Default IGT Slot Arm Pictures needed!

    Hi all,

If anyone has installed an IGT slot arm, can you post some pictures (inside and out) or just provided any info you have. I purchased an IGT arm and I now am not sure if it's going to fit. Even removing the over flow coin box, it looks like I'm going to have a problem with the hopper being in the way.

    Thanks so much!

    BigBearSteve,

    Thanks! You rock!

I have a few questions if you don't mind and have attached some pictures.

Picture #1 - your picture does not have the part I have circled. I assume I will need to remove it?

Picture #2 - It seems if I remove the part in picture #1, that I will need to remove the spring on the left. Is that correct.

Picture #3 - Your picture has a black \ brass looking part in the area I have marked with the arrow. What is this and will I need it.

Thank you very much for the pictures and the help.

Yes, (photo 1) that was tossed as well as the solinoid and locking mech.

Yes on photo 2, that spring is used in the top. Which is what you see in photo 3.

I'll shoot a better pic for you a bit later, and go into a little more detail.

kim you do not have to remove that . the only thing that needs to be removed is the selinoid assembly and thats just 2 nuts and it unbolts freeing the arm to pull . you could wire it into your spin light but you'd have to change the coil to a 24 volt coil and if someone were to pull the arm when locked it could pull the machine over so i don't recommend using the selinoid most people have removed it .if you remove that spring assy . you won't have that pop after the ratchet sound .if thats what your aiming for then go ahead and remove it .if you mount it as low as possible in the cabinet then it shouldn't interfere with the hopper at all .heres a pic of the finished arm it was a gold one .I later changed it to a chrome arm . im still looking for the inside pics.

OK, lets see if this helps.

Photo 1 shows the bottom spring that stays in place.

Photo 2 is the other spring on top (the one that was removed off the bottom when you take out the solinoid) stretched

Photo 3 top spring with no load.

And Photo 4 shows the IGT hub after removing material for clearance (about 1/8" +)

When I dissasembled the housing to remove the unwanted parts, The bottom stop was a resin type material that had seen better days.

I removed it and glued in a piece of rubber about an 1/8" thick.

Reassembled the mechanism with the extra spring moved to the top.

The whole assembly is mounted in the bottom back of the cabinet.

The IGT handle is made for a cabinet that is only about an 1/8" thick, so for the pachi cabinet (being about a half inch thick), you need to remove some material from the back of the handle hub.

I did this by using a bench mounted belt sander. You could probably do this by hand, but it will take some time.

Then I used 1/4" or 5/16" dia. carriage bolts to mount the whole assy.

As you can see in the pic's, I kept the front micro switch to spin the reels, and I may add one as a max bet button.

    BTW, your custom looks GREAT!!

Devon does some beautiful work !

the hub can be corrected just as easily by using a dremal and extending the holes to the end of the cap then just sliding it on after installation works just as well .i would use the collar plate as well it will avoid the cabinet scrapes that way and it makes an excellent template when cutting the hole and drilling the mounting bolt holes.. i only used longer bolts to compensate for the cabinet thickness and the method above to take care of the hub cap . if i can find the pics ill include them tommorow.

    Jeff,

Pictures of the inside would be great. Also, thank you for the detailed information.

    BigBearSteve,

Thank you for all the detailed information as well and the great pictures.

So, you both have a little bit different spin (no pun intended) on how this should be set up. As far as the solenoid goes, I am going to remove it. Don't want to deal with extra wiring (and have to because of space issues). I kind of like the "pop" but still not sure if I have the room for that assy. as it is. BigBearSteve, by moving the spring to the top, do you get that "pop". Also, as for moving the spring to the top, I'm a little confused.

Again, thank you both. I will keep playing around with it to see what works best.

I moved the spring to the top because, I wasn't happy with the response of the handle after it was pulled.

With only one bottom spring, it didn't snap back like I wanted.

I just noticed your comment, "mines on the way" . What are you having done? Would love to see more customs.

By the way, can you guys post some pictures of the wiring?

    Thanks!!

There are LOTS of customs out there, but only a few of quality. Most just change out the belly glass, call it a custom and try to sell it for an unfair price.

A member here, Dapperdan, did beautiful custom work, Lddrizzt did a custom Looney Tunes that was to die for (especially because there was some overlaying of graphics in the reel window VERY COOL!) and now it looks as though Devospeed has paid every attention to detail on yours. It is stunning!

I am all for a quality custom... now if someone could just get that 'sound' thing conquered.

No, It's not the loud "pop" that you get with the unaltered assy.
Mine was really stiff at that point of release, and I didn't want someone pulling so hard and knocking the machine over.

It still has the ratchet though.

thanks dawn ,mine looks exactly as hers does like i said if you mount it as low as possible it should clear the hopper with a little to spare ( Sorry dawn but i gota say it ) and She has a pretty big hopper in that machine also .the only room you'll save by removing the part your talking about is a fraction of an inch on the top ,I'd fit it then try the hopper before taking the parts off first. As for the wiring its just 2 wires run to the lower 2 micro switch conntections and routed around with the door wire harness then tapped into the spin knob wiring ,a very simple job just as easy as running speaker wiring in a car.By the way dawn if you ever want to get rid of that machine give me a call first ...

    BigBearSteve,

Thanks for the additional information. I completely took apart the slot arm assy. last night to see how it all works. Cleaned and polish everything up as well. Almost looks like new. Still working on making the handle knob into an olive. I found that the two springs have different tensions and switched them around. It seems to work smoother now.

Devon does do great work and is awesome to work with. I had how I wanted the machine to look in my head and he brought it to life. Looking forward to seeing what he does for you.

Once you have some wiring pictures, it would be great if you could post them. I'm sure this thread will be helpful to others as well.

Dittia, thank you for the pictures as well.

    All,

Here are some pictures of my coin hopper. I'm just not seeing how this is going to fit. Does anyone know if I would be able to replace the hopper with a smaller or different size one. The machine is a Eleco TacoSlot 2.

    Thanks!!!

you could cut off the part in the way or the whole overflow side of the hopper and put on a flat piece of plexiglass.

I used a heat gun to carefully mold the corner and side of the hopper.
Also, I removed the overflow chute and blocked the hole with a piece of plastic hot glued in place.

wow my elco didn't go any where near that far . its strictly up to you but you could cut off the offending portion and then cut a replacement piece out of some metal from duct work sold at home depote then paint it black and mount it with sheet metal screws .nobody would be able to tell the difference .
