Default Alien Pachislo Machine - thoughts?

I was considering buying one of these (Based on the Sigourney Weaver movie) and was wondering if anyone had opinions about it? I've never seen it in person. It would also be my first machine.

Well I've not played it myself but it generally goes for a bit of cash. The fact it's based on that movie theme will raise the price and it's an IGT machine. The fact it's an IGT means great care was taken to insure the playability and staying true to the theme. I've never heard of one person who wasn't happy with an IGT.

I think Arbycoffee may have one of these... He has one of everything.

Thought I remembered seeing some comments on Alien. So, I popped over to another forum and found these messages from a user named mtnvalley3:

    1st message -

Well, it came today. Very clean, which could be in some part due to its being a 2002 model.

After perhaps 500 tokens, here are my thoughts. Very very different. Dark and ominous feeling (rather like the movie) from the sounds. Not as much variety in play as I like (thus far), with much of what there is coming via the LCD screen. Reels are backlit, but I haven't seen any evidence thus far of tricky lighting (black lights etc above the reels). A single light bar across the top, split in half by a round plastic orb that flashes any of at least a half-dozen colors.

I'll report more later, but likely not real soon...as this one hasn't drawn me in enough to keep me off the Terminator and Spin Luck for too long

    2nd message -

I hit the bonus a couple times tonight, and unfortunately am still rather unimpressed. Light show is pretty tame, music is as heard on the video, and it appears that IGT figured all the "wow" factor would come from the clips shown on the LCD. They're OK, but...I dunno. I have 9 machines (selling 2, and looking to add a Vegas)but I don't think this one is gonna make my top 5. It may go buhbye at some point to make room for a Fever Queen, after hearing y'all talk about that one...

    ----------

I checked our membership list and don't find a mtnvalley over here yet and, on the old forum, he hasn't posted within the last 3 months. So maybe his interest in pachislos has faded a bit.

I liked Mtnvalley a lot. He was a great guy but he dropped out of site sometime around May or June of last year. It was he who actually coined the pachi-pimps nickname. Wish I had his email, I'd let him know about us now. Not sure if he's still into these or not, he owned some small hotel and spent a lot of time on that.

Yeha he was a great guy!! Ivew played the Alien many many times myself, but never owned one. I almsot bought one 3 or 4 tiems but decided not to, becasue its really just not that much fun. Its got a neat lcd up top, but for IGT its rather boring. Id much rather spend my money on a spin luck or Dragon Dice!
