Yes I always use Toroidals in my Pachinko`s and Pachilso machines, just like Drcrippen said : a little hard to mount but if that is done no problems what so ever .
The great thing about toroidals is that they can be bought in almost every voltages, they are round like a donut which makes them easy to hide in Pachilso machine, the let down is that there are no toroidals who have 24 volts output so I`m using a 2 x 12 volts output and make link between 2 wires and voila 24 volts output

Most voltages I`m buying are 80 VA, 120 VA, 160 VA and for a Lord of the Rings or Star Wars pachilso 225 VA , strong enough eh

Sorry to ask...What is a toroidal, and how is it used? Is it a type of transformer?

It's a type of transformer. Used the same way as the traditional power supply. We use them at work all the time to make multi-camera power supplies. They tend to be rather large, and clumsy to mount. I don't use them even though I can pick up a 220VA for about $15.00. I just don't have anywhere to mount them.
