Humming in Speakers

Some of my machines have a slight hum coming from the speaker(s). Other machines don't.

Any idea how to correct this? Is this interference from the transformer or maybe the florescent light ballast?

Volume Controls... You could try a ground loop isloator if you wanted, I was going to give it a shot once but volume controls work, you need them anyway and they're cheaper.

If it's a "slight" hum, you may have no problem at all. The level of noise from these machines varies quite a bit from manufacturer to manufacturer and even model to model. I have some that are dead silent and others that you can hear halfway across the room - even after volume controls are installed.

Rule of thumb is, if the hum is loud enough to bother you, install volume controls. If the volume controls lower the hum, but make the normal sounds too quite, use the 3 position slide switch(es) that most of the machines have to increase the volume.

I have some machines that were so noisy that I had to lower the volume so much with the added volume control (which did lower the hum to an acceptable level) that I then had to set the slide switch to full on to get the sound (minus the hum) back up to a usable level.
