I have a newer machine than yours so things aren't exactly the same, but I did try to reproduce what you are seeing and was not able to. You may want to go through and re-seat all of the connections that you see. It may be as simple as that.

i just noticed also a sort of chirp that directly preceeds the click from the loading mechanism. it is best heard from aout 2/3 of the way up of the back right side of the machine.

Also, in the reward hopper, there is a button that would get pressed if the hopper was full. when this is pushed down, the clicking stops but the chirp still goes in about 4 second intervals. when pressed, it also turns off the big light on the front top right that says STOP.

ok, i did some pretty extensive cleaning. if i manually put balls in the different catches, they pay out correctly.

so it seems that the only issue is that the balls don't shoot.

i have also noticed that the transformer on the back that plugs into the wall gets really hot even if the games power is off. is that normal?

Always unplug it from the wall. The transformer will still get powered even when you turn off the machine power switch.

is that always true? or can you mode to prevent it? i have a star wars and the transformer does not get hot when the power is off, but it has a power switch on the front which is aftermarket.

Yes, unless the switch is between the outlet and the power supply (transformer)
On my machines, I use a power strip, surge protector with and on/off switch.
Trace the wiring on your star wars and see if the switch in connected between the wall plug and the power supply.

Is your hand making contact with the metal ring on the shooter knob? That is an easy fix that sometimes gets overlooked.

I use x10 appliance modules so I can turn all of my machines on and off at same time. This works great since they are all on different circuit, and in different locations in the house.

There doesn't appear to be one of those rings on this machine. the entire knob is made out of plastic.

Definatly not a ring like on the Star Wars machine.

lionstone22, Did you go through and re-seat all of the connection yet? Also, if you follow that wire back from that button I asked you to press yesterday and unplug it from the PCB; does the machine shoot balls?

it is this machine, exept the frame is a different color scheme.

Yes, no Dongle, it's the 'cash' version
of the cell, but it could be in a CR frame. I believe on that frame (a little far from my 90's Heiwa right now), looking at the back, the 25-pin connector is on the lower right side facing down. On the shooter tray in the front, if there are other buttons (I think red) other than the large silver button (tray dump), then it's a CR frame and needs a dongle, although some are modified not to need them.

I assume your frame is the yellow version?

there is a button about where my thumb is when i turn the handle. is that what you are talking about?

if yes, then it still clicks.

i am not 100% sure that we are talking about the same button. the button i am talking about is right where my thumb is when i am turning the spin handle. it makes a click noise when i press it only when the handle has been turned. i'm not sure what this button is for. is it what is supposed to trigger the ball to shoot rather than a metal band that this machine does not have.

i did reseat every plug that i could find in the machine. i don't know if i got them all, but i made sure to touch the ones that were coming from the spin handle and any near them.

again, thank you for youtime and help!

    Maybe this...

    Shooting Balls

In modern day pachinko, the machine will allow you to either shoot only one ball or it will allow you to rapid fire. You simply load the top ball front ball tray with balls and turn the knob to the right. Without intervention by the player at this point the unit will rapid fire. Somewhere, and again this will vary with manufacturer, there is a button near or on this knob. Pressing this button will cause the balls to cease being shot even with the knob turned. By pressing this button and depressing this button while the shooter knob is turned you can control how many balls the machine can shoot.

that would make sense. now i hope i can figure out how to get the balls to shoot at all.

    Let's talk about motors...

what motors might effect the shooting mechanism and where would they be located?

as dirty as the machine was, would it make sense that a motor might be too dirty to do its duty?

That X10 system looks Cool! With three machines, It would be cool not to have to bend down and reach for plugs anymore. I am definately looking into that. I like the "remote" Control system.

You can easily run 3 machine on one 3 prong appliance module. I have a 3 prong appliance module with a surge strip connected to it, and 3 machines pugged in to the surge strip. You need an appliance module (3 Pin), controller, and remote. About $30.00 for everything on eBay including the shipping.

Lionstone22, The ball launch assembly is on the back left on that machine. You should see it on the bottom by where the transformer is located. You should see a black motor surrounded by a PCB. There should be a 2 wire harness that connects the motor to the PCB, and a 6 or 8 wire harness that goes to the front.
