Default Any idea what might be wrong?

Ok, i know this is a long shot, but can anyone give me some scenarios on what may be wrong with a pachinko machine that is decribed as follows?

"It does have power, just can't get into game mode."

i have not personally seen the machine and am trying to just get an idea of what 'might' be wrong. i just would like to know if there is a chance that i may be able to fix it if i were to purchase it.

so what are some of the scenarios that might get a pachinko to this type of state?

worst case, i buy it and can't do anything and i will take the cabinate that it is in for my Star Wars.

i don't have any other info on the machine but a picture, which i can't seem to get loaded in the thread.

it is a .bmp and i don't know how to change it to a supported file type.

    thanks again!

Most likely a loose connection somewhere.

i just found out that the game is called Heiwa and another name on the machine is Fujiko. don't know if that helps, but i am going to pick it up for $60.

like i said, if i can't get it to work, at least it has a good looking cabinate.

i will try to take some pictures and provide more detail once i get it home.

    thanks again for any ideas!

P.S. - Does this mean i have joined the dark side? I mean i am on vacation and surfing craigslist for pachinko machines...now i plan on driving an 11/2 hours to pickup a broken machine.

The manufacturer is 'Heiwa' and I expect the full name of the game is 'Lupin the Third - The Hidden Treasure of Tamadasu Island - Fujiko version'. I've got one and it's a really good game once you get it working, especially if you like Japanese animation.

If it was me, then I would definitely take a chance at one of these for $60. I'm sure that once you try it out and post a more detailed description of what is not working, then you should get a few suggestions for potential fixes.

BTW no one can tell you if you have turned to the dark side, it's something you will feel inside.

I 2nd Sid's assessment - The dongle is probably either missing or loose.

    That's a pretty good sign!

You have no idea how far (in every sense of the word) some of us are willing to go for the pachi fix!

    Thank You compriate!!!

I did not drive that far.

But I did drive from Florida to 60 miles south of Bangor Main to pick up a Spin Luck and stuffed 4 Pachinko's and a Harley Pachislo into a Suzuki Swift 2 door hatchback to take down to the Vero Beach Meet and back last year.

$60 for a Heiwa Lupin the Third that may or may not need a little work? Grab it, I bet it's something very simple.

Mostly the dongle is only needed for shooting balls is my experience, it will run without a dongle , I think the machine doesn`t get enough power (or to much power) or a loose connector is more likely causing your problem .

Please let us know if you find the solution.

unfortunally, i don't think it is the Lupin the Third that you guys mentioned. it doesn't look the same as the ones that i could find vids for on youtube. it has a mostly yellow case with a blue accents. it has a smaller screen in the center (maybe 3.5 inch). Still looks pretty cool though.

i won't be able to really look at it until Sat. or Sun. when i get back home from vacation.

When i picked it up the seller plugged it in and i saw one thing really promising. the screen came on to what looked like the spin screen and i noticed that in the bottom center of the play area, there was a red light that was lit up. there were no balls in the machine at all. so i am wondering if they just need to feed some through until it says the last fever is paid off.

would that make since, that the machine would not 'play' until it settles the last win?

That's the late 90's version, still pretty cool.

Finally, got this thing home and have had a chance to really look at it. Here is what i see...

    1. the game turns on fine.
    2. when i put a ball in the center hole, the game spins as you would expect.
    3. balls will not shoot at all.
    4. when the power is turned on, there is a whine and a click. i can see what is clicking when i open up the glass and the tray on the front. it is right behind the spring for the ball shooting mechanism. it has an orange and yellow wire coming from it and it goes to a plug on the front the is labeled 'W00N1' / CN2.

i cannot tell what it is trying to do.

also, the thing is filthy. from top to bottom, inside and out. So if someone has a link to the best way to clean this thing and how to take it apart in the correct order that would be really helpfull. First though, i want to make sure i can get it to work.

    thanks again!

It's the dongle... It looks like a 25 pin serial connector in the back of the machine. About $5.00 to replace it.

It may be damaged or missing.

Okay, I spoke to fast. It amy not be the dongle. Does it continue to click, or just once when you turn it on? If you spin the handle does it make noise or is it as if it's dead?

i don't see a dongle, or a place where one would plug in. this is a 90s machine (or so i was told)., if that makes a difference.

it keeps clicking about once every 4 seconds. when i first turn on the power, it will do it 2-3 times much quicker.

oh, and it acts as if it is dead when i spin the handle

now that i have looked a little closer, the mechanism that is clicking controls whne the next ball is allowed into the shooting lane from the tray.

There is a small button just above the ball launch handle; if you press that does the clicking stop?
