Default New to the world of Pachinko.

Just wanted to say that it is great to have such a community to run across.
I just purchased my first Pachinko machine and it is the Sanyo Comet II. I found it on craigslist.org (Dallas, TX), and was found in non working order.

Well after a bit of elbow grease and some investigative work I believe I have the thing working for the most part. I say that since I have about 30 balls, and am not able to test all from a players point. I will drop some balls into the payout sections and see what happens.
I made the mistake of taking the machine apart to clean it, but did not take any pictures (read dumb-ass) but I was just excited about getting it to work.

It took me less then two hours to but it back together (I could not believe I recalled where most all parts went), but most parts made sence as to where they should go.
I need to figure out the pins on the power connector since the Comet II's I have seen here only have the 3 pin, and mine has 5.

Here are some pics, let me know what you think.

Really Nice looking machine! Welcome to the "Sickness"!! I will bet the extra two wires were to actuate a warning light at the pachinko parlor it originated at. most units come that way. OR, there may be other thoughts. that is what it is all about.

    Nice machine!

As far as lights go it looks like you have more than the two lights mine has, and I would bet that there are two circuits for them.

Get a nine volt battery and some leads, pull out a bulb and hope you find at least one good one, put it back, then test the leads on the pins while operating the switches. (I connected alligator clips to the leads to make it easier.)

My guess is that the top two make a circuit, and the next two make another.

That's what I thought as well, but when I went to test them (with a 9V bat.) only the upper most right one lights up. It seems as if the left one is just there for looks. To make certain I searched for any sort of wires that may lead to that side and could not find any... bummer, but hey at least the two I do have work!

I also so that machine on dfw craigslist. There are about 7 of them for under 50 bucks. I am afraid to cross over to restoring them. I just love the LCD's too much.

Great! I know the machines work fine without the lights but I like when the lights flash!

Yeah, but now I believe the ball bin (hopper?) switch does not work, and is why the "red" light does not light when it is empty. I will try to replace that switch with something I find from Rad Shack, its a dual pole double throw type switch, and my only hopes are that the one I find can be 'shoe-horned' into place.

you would think that a 5 pin circuit would have been easy to decipher (and it is), its only that the switch not working was really throwing me off.

Forgot to mention that this site is just "AWSOME!". Thanks to the mentioning of "a payout is given every time you make it into a winning pocket" I was able to determine that my machine was in need of repairing. At first I thougt perhaps it takes several hits into the winning pockets to get anything back... wrong!

I am sure most of you knowthis, but word to the wise. If your "Seesaw" does not move up and down easily do the follwoing.

I used some wet sandpaper (800 grit) on the brass dowel that holds the seesaw in place. I then used a drill bit the same size as the hole in the seesaw to clean the hole and make certain it is straight & true. I put everything back together, and tested it out. Once I droped a ball into a winning pocket I received a payout (15 balls to be exact) for the first time, and life was good!

BTW: The Seesaw takes the balls that have entered a winning pocket and sends them down to the ball exit - AKA the Regulator. (info from Dan Reed @ http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/dreed...hinko/game.htm

Great looking machine! Looks to be in excellent condition as well... You may want to try a can of electronics contact cleaner on that switch before you replace it. I was able to restore several old switches that way.

Yes, remove the switch and put it in a small plastic cup and immerse it in contact cleaner, work the switch a bunch of times to get any internal crud loosened and shake it up. usually extends the life a year or two.

Thanks, from what I can tell its from 1975. The Japanese tags do not state that, but the numbers that are on there I have seen on this site, and that is how I was able to tell the date.
I suppose this is ancient Japanese secret math... shhhh do not tell anyone.
