The Pachi Stork is coming!

Well... My new baby is on the way! Star Trek should show up next week, and I'm so anxious I can't sit still. I just got off the phone with Hiro a few hours ago, and everything is ready to go.

The audio cable that connects the two lower speakers is missing, so Hiro rigged up a makeshift cable until I can make or find the right one. It works, so I'm good with that for now. Arby helped me out by sending me some pictures of the cable that I will need to find or make. I think I have all the parts at work to build a suitable replacement. Thanks Arby!

He said they never responded to him... That was why I had to wait so long to get it shipped. He was trying to get the cable before he sold the machine. That's ok with me since it should be an easy cable to reconstruct thanks to Arby's pictures...

Well... I just received my Star Trek machine today, and UPS dropped the box and broke it! The case is damaged on all corners, and the middle LED from under the Star Trek logo fell off, and was laying in the cell by the LCD. The ribbon cable is hanging down, but the spring that holds it on is well up in the machine. I turned it on, and the LEDs just sit there, and don't pull themselves back up under the Star Trek logo.

I am really not happy!

I have filed a claim with UPS, but even if I get my money back it's not the same. I will try to fix it, but not exactly sure how since i have never tried to disassemble a cell.

I picked it up from Hiro at CF Export in the Los Angeles area. He only had the one Star Trek, so if UPS won't let me keep it when/if they pay the claim, then I'm out all together. It still works, but not right since the LED pods that come down from the top are stuck down, and one has broken off.

That sucks! I saw that very machine before it was shipped, and it was in perfect condition. If you need a witness to that effect, both Rik1138 and I have seen it prior to shipping. Usually when you file a claim, you have to give them the item and you don't get it back.

The only machine I had delivered was sent UPS, and the box suffered major damage (smashed corners, gashes, holes, etc.). Luckily it was just the pachinko machine, not installed in a cabinet like yours, otherwise it'd probably have looked the same.

I thought you lived within driving distance of Los Angeles? It's worth driving long distances to avoid not only the cost of shipping, but the hassle of dealing with damaged machines...

The repair can be done, but if you have never taken apart a cell, you can make it way worse.

I really hope they don't want it back since I may be able to fix it. I have the lady that specializes in UPS claims at work handling the claim for me. That is one advantage of having it shipped to my work. We do millions of dollars a year in business with UPS so we get a little less crud from them over claims. At least I have that going for me... Many times they will just pay up and not want the shipment back.

I did power it up on my desk to see what else was broken, and it looks mostly functional. It sure is nice to look at; even broken.

I can hear the little motor trying to pull the LED pods back up, but it just can't do it. It makes one attempt and then turns the motor off.

I had such a hard time today at work over this whole thing. I wanted to climb under my desk and cry...

UPS Gorrillas need to be slaped silly with a law suit for intentionaly damaging a parcel . I am with holding the explictives that come to mind after seeing the lack of respect to customers UPS has .
