Matthias has several ideas to lift balls:

    Matthias's Marble Machines page

He has also same kind of rotary lifter.

I'm thinking a 4' diameter wheel is a bit too large. Why not take some ideas from this device??

on the second video, you could design the ramps to hold more balls each, so it would dump around fifteeh balls each time it dumped them

I'm thinking you need to get a Julie and disguise the lifter as a ferris wheel

you know that is not a bad Idea for those that have a bunch of units, and a central ball catch area available. A decorative ball lifter using a Kinnex Ferris wheel would look pretty cool to me, and to see balls rolling around tubes overhead would look pretty cool if lit properly. Kind of a Rube Goldberg effect for the game room.

Ok the grinder motor turned out to be a bad idea as the one on display at H.F. on lowest power would have worked approx.100 rpm Id say, so im cool ill take it then. Then I get home plug it in and wham full blast 3000 approx. so Im thinking the one on the display was a return for being a piece of shi__t and yes a tool from H.F. no doubt will turn out that way after normal use.So I talked with a guy that does our custom parts like plactic pinch roller and anything we might need fabricated out of plactic or steel and he thought outta of the ideas the one that most resembles Arbycoffee is the way to go.I know for a fact he can do the gear mechanism exactly how Ill need it thru trial and error and persistence. He is checking on a used motor 60 rpm with some thump to it.I explained to him that I want this project for under or around 100 dollars and he seems to think its doable. The motor being the hardest to locate for the budget Ive described. Also Ill say again yes the actual ball lifter sold on here is def. the way to go but Im a DIY'er and sometimes this gets me in trouble. The guy checking on the used motors comes in approx. once a week so I expect him to get back to me soon with the results of his search.Checked around on Ebay and found doable used motors at the 60 rpm for around $20.Thanks and Ill TTYL,
    Matt

Look for car wiper motors, they are usually under 100 rpm and they have great torque. I have used them many times to run animatronic projects.

this guy has some good information on them (scary terry)
    Wiper Motor Page

you can find them all over the web.
POWERFUL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR | AllElectronics.com

or you could go with a cheap harbor freight cordless drill, again low rpm, high torque and you have a chuck for easy attachment to your wheel.

I think I'm going to use a HF drill for my screw-type lifter I'm working on right now. I have it working except going from square tube to 1/2 round I keep getting a jam, I'll have to fabricate a cone type fitting. I'll post some pictures or maybe a video later.

ok so i think i got the motor today.Picked up a juicer from the thrift store took apart an wahhlah!!!Seems to have alot of torque as I was unable to stop the shaft once it started to turn. The only problew i see is it has a spring that you push down on to activate the motor and when you push then let go then push again it goes into the opposite direction.I hope you understand that so basically I believe if I can solder the connection permanently then I should be in business. The housing around the motor is made outta [plastic so not sure if I should strip everything down to the metal or incorporate this into the housing that ill make. The housing is hard and has 4 bolts to hold motor in place maybe ill try with plastic then if that seems to flimsy then ill strip the plastic off and go bare bones.another good thing is that it has a small gear already on the shaft and like I said b4 I have a parts guy from my work that can make just about anything outta plastic on the cnc.does anyone have the dimensions approx. of the plastic gear that the parlours us for there ball lifter? Also I work in a Stainless Steel Bar shop making Bars so I think I can incorporate the 1/8" track system the you see on the moving ball sculptures/track.Wel lthis is coming along slowly but surely and the fact that Im building another cornhole set doesnt help the speed of the process. Thanks again for everyone input and the different webpage to find all kinds of motors gears and anything that might be needed.TTYL,.

Try another aproach, I am in love with ford power window motors. you get em from your local pick and pull junkyard for 5 bucks and for another 2 you replace the little nylon "Nuggets" that are the only thing that goes bad in them. Torque? not a question, I have used them to make 20 foot wide electric roll down/up video screens. as a drive pump for my floor jacks so I dont have to get on the ground and pump them. and most of the other parts you need should be available at your local Grainger.

So today I ran to H.F. to get some spring clamps for my new cornhole boards and ill jog next door to the thrift store actually more like and antique store, and after browsing around I come acrossed you guessed it a pachislo. It was Id say 20 years old said ORIENTAL on the front bottom glass and had some chinese written next to other parts in english.I didnt get the manufactures name also there were no tokens with it also it was kinda dirty and dinged up chrome was a little flaky and just dull..So i ask the guy how much he wanted for it hes says $215 Im like ok and walked away he shouts as im leaving id take an offer I keep walking because I really didnt want this machine for anything more than a 100 bucks and figure hed want more so my question is how many people will buy these at this price?Let me start by saying also this wasnt a LCD or even an old retro machine it was pretty basic and lackluster at best.If he can get 200 bucks for this Id say all the new pachis ive ever seen on here or ebay are way underpriced.I want the Secret Treasure to pop back up in the auction as I missed the end of it couple days ago wouldve bought it for my B-Day but Im kinda curious if hell ever see someone give him 200 for this? The balll lifter has taken a slight delay as I try to finish up a new cornhole set before my B-Day next weekend but I have motor and am waiting on a Gear from BirdBrain and Ill possibly get duplicate s made up from my friend.TTYL,
    Matt
