OK OK I will take the advice I was actually looking forward to finding a way to re-surface the old nishijin playfield but that will have to wait. I will need as many specs on this thing as anyone may have, I cant find a similar unit anywhere insofar as the playfield goes.

There are a couple of removable modules in the back of this thing I am wondering if anyone knows what they are and what each does. Neither of the two were plugged in when I got the unit so I dont know how to place them

Check with Bill Connelly (pachinkoman.com) I think he sells a refubishing cd that goes through step by step process. Make sure it's the one for a 'Nishijin Type A' machine. If they aren't on his web site check flea bay. I know he sells them there too.

As far as I know no one here has ever come up with a way to revers the ghosting on the Nishijin playing fields. Although I do remember someone over a year back saying they recovered one. Not sure if it was playable after that or not. If I find the post I'll link it here.

You can also PM Slothappy he's cleaned up this type before. He may have some recommendations or pointers.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you on this one.

I once saw a photo online of a pachinko where someone had removed all the nails and rails, stripped off the mylar and put a custom print in behind new mylar and put the nails and rails back in. As far as I know that's the only way to fix a water-stained playfield. The hardest part will be removing the rails, which are attached with long staples that might break off. I might try it sometime if there is no other way to restore a very unusual machine, but usually I just look for one without that kind of damage.

Actually does anyone have a picture of a drawing of how the pins are secured in the field? I would like to see I have a way of developing odd processes I would like to try. and the type A Nishijin is the one I will be doing it to I do need a plastic tray for it, as you can see in the picture I trashed mine last week pulling it down from the top rack in the warehouse on the forklift.

Years ago there was a vintage on ebay where someone put a spiderman movie pic on the playfield, it looked real nice and last year a member here posted pics of vintage where he covered the playfield with a tshirt!!

I can imaging taking all the nails out is hard enough, but putting them all back in must be a nightmare!!

Yeah but I actually had a crazy Idea about doing it with a face to match the "Price Is Right" "Plinko", and putting Bob Barkers image on it. I think my mother in law would love it. Kind of a commemorative.
