But why? They are neat, don't get me wrong, I'm just curious why they even bothered to invent them... Does using balls seem less evil than 'coins' (from a gambling point of view)?

It's for parlors that want to have Pachislo, but don't want to invest in the tokens and token handling equipment (cleaners, counters, etc...). They already have the ball handling systems.

Makes you wonder about out the legality in states that wont accept token driven units... these would be legal by ANY definition, just as Pachinko units are... think about it. NO conversion possibilitys... NO problems...
