oh well, I pumped gas when I was a kid, (Yes, Virginia I was a kid once), it was 18.9¢ a gallon and that was high test and we checked the oil and washed all the windows. AND aired the tires too If the customer asked.

Mothers day we gave out to all women a long stemmed Red rose, and for fathers day behind the station we had a tapped keg on ice.

That was when cars were made of USA steel and were close to bullet proof.

A can of oil was 37¢ for shell multi grade. We had bulk remaned oil for 10¢ a quart.

Oil change and filter was $6.25 for the best of both, or you could go cheapest was $2.25.

Pop out of the machine 10¢ for a 12 oz bottle of pepsi.

Candy bars were 5¢ each.

I remember going to full service gas stations with my Dad as a kid.
Just like Arby says, check the oil, wash windows and they kept the cigarettes in a box by the pumps, my Dad would always buy 2 packs @ .50 a pack.
You just don't get service like that anywhere anymore.

I remember bringing tubes to the store to plug into the tester! Scratchy tuning dials, then the pushbuttons with the green lights, the "clicker" remote control... I'm not THAT old, am I?

Ours would change everytime the dogs ran by and jingled their tags. And we only had 7 channels.
