Default New re-theme and another great set of Devon's prints!

This was a planet 999 that I re-themed to commemorate our EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) chapter. Most of the planes are member's planes and allot of the little details are specific to our chapter and airport. If you have an idea in your head I highly recommend having Devon turn it into ready to install prints. He does incredible work and it is worth every penny. For some reason I can't get a camera to take a good pic, but trust me it is a beauty to behold.

Not many of those around, they are rare as hens teeth. If I were 50Lbs lighter and not alread embroiled in 3 airplanes I would look into building one. I have a jet in the works now, a HE 162, the 2nd jet fighter ever, 1944. The planes featured in the game at a Pitts special (Aerobatic biplane), RV8 (fast and versatile), Acro Sport II (Aerobatic biplane, my second airplane built), a Pietenpol (my first airplane built), and a Zeith (great first plane).

The inside jokes would be hard to explain. Like the RV8 being the lemon, a good friend who is really a master builder was lamenting about his problems setting up the plane's systems so it was great that he ended up as a lemon.

Oops, missed your reply. I have compiled the drawings from the Smithsonian, published books and a few private collectors. So far I have all the bulkhead templates I need, rib planforms and most of the basic fittings.

I have cut a basic set of bulkheads and formers to verify dimensions and things look good so far. The basic construction will be true to the original but instrumentation and propulsion will be modern. Retractable gear will probably be lifted from a Lear 23 and the engine choice looks like a Cj610.

For those of you who hear BLAH BLAH BLAH...

Original airplane with modern engine and landing gear and the cockpit will have modern flat panel instruments and GPS navigation.

GPS, instruments, closed cockpit, that ain't flyin'!

I always thought the ME262 was a nice looking aircraft.
