The Neon Genesis Evangelion series of pachinko machines, marketed under the Bisty brand, has been a major hit and a
hallmark of SANKYO Group. The third product in the series, introduced in February 2007, set a unit sales record of
nearly 200,000 machines, contributing greatly to fiscal 2007 business results.
This success notwithstanding, the Group posted disappointing business results that fell short of the initial forecast. We recognize that the major factor contributing to the unsatisfactory performance was a slump in sales of SANKYO brand pachinko machines: models of mainstay pachinko machines and pachislo machines that failed to command the attention of customers amid intensifying competition achieved only modest sales.
In fiscal 2008, the year beginning April 1, 2007, we are determined to mount an all-out effort to increase earnings and maximize enterprise value by expanding market share in order to recover from the downturn in business performance in fiscal 2007.
I request the continued guidance and support of our shareholders and investors in the coming years.

Sounds like this is why we may never see some machines make it to the States. Only the most popular ones are made in large numbers - the rest qucikly come and go. Hardly any Star Trek's showed up on YJA so it probably wasn't popular in Japan.

the machines with the highest visibility sell well. For this
reason, the Company is actively acquiring well-known content
that can attract the attention of large numbers of people
and engaging in effective advertising and promotional
activities using television commercials and other advertising
media."
