Yeah, that is unusual. Here's a close-up of the playfield I requested from the seller.

I have a high fever and when I wrote the thread I called the machine Super Flash.

For new members that might be interested its called Power Flash and there are other threads that go into detail about the machine.

Yay! I got it. It looks like a real fun machine. I'll report on it after it arrives.

I started to fix the wiring and realized two things: a solenoid was missing and I was going to need a transformer. I found a replacement for the solenoid on Electronic Goldmine (The Electronic Goldmine) and it fits (and works) perfectly. In order to buy it I needed to add to my order, so I added a transformer they had that was a 120vac primary with 24vac and 36vac secondaries. I'd prefer a transformer with 24v and 10v secondaries so I could have an always on light added to the center like Eddie's Power Flash. I'm not even sure I should be running 24vac—doesn't that mean alternating current? It works, but I don't know enough about electrical wiring to know if it will cause trouble. Eddie, did your transformer come with the machine or did you buy it? Can you give me the specs on it? If anyone knows a good source for that type of transformer, please let me know.

I love the machine. It plays similar to many vintage pachinkos because of the way the balls are channeled and because only eight pockets are actually playable until the tulips on the others open, and then the two tulips easiest to hit (and hardest to avoid) shut all the tulips, so unless you can place the ball at the far right or left you don't usually get much scoring from all the open tulips. But it looks cool when they all flip open! More details on how the machine plays on Eddie's post (PachiTalk).

Heads up for any that are interested in getting a hold of a Power Flash pachinko: VINTAGE JAPANESE SOPHIA PINBALL MACHINE NISHIJIN UNTEST - eBay (item 350119804414 end time Nov-09-08 18:01:17 PST)

It looks to be in pretty decent condition. It will probably only need a transformer for powering the solenoids. You might track down a cover for the jackpot payout mechanism to keep the dust out, but it should work as is.
