I know I hate to scroll from side to side to read a post and I'm sure they do to. So it's for them I set this restriction, even though I have no idea who they may be. 640 x 480 will also produce a nice enough size pic to get your idea across.
I still find i have to scroll from side to side to read some posts like ones written by for example bf_of_pf

I think its because some avatars are a bit too wide or the pictures in the footer of the post. I know I know, I should same up for a decent monitor, but whenever I have the money a Pachi winks at me.

Did that stuff come out with the media? My HF Tumbler deosn't even have parts in it that look like that inside the tub. Mine is going back to HF too though. It started to trip out the thermal overload the last time I ran it overnight, and now it runs slower and gentler than it used to and doesn't hold consistent speed.

My Lyman 1200 is doeing great. I think you'll love the 2500.

No, I guess I didn't make it clear from my post; all that stuff didn't come out with the media, it came out from underneath the bowl, after I turned everything upside down to empty the bowl. I took the base off and saw that one of the four metal bracket supports had totally cracked & separated. I'm not sure which came first, the pieces or the cracked support. All I know is, it started making a whole bunch of noise and I was afraid it was going to launch itself eventually, so we hauled it back today and got a full refund. Definietly looking forward to the Lyman arriving.

The Lyman 2500 has landed! Wow - what a quiet behomoth. This sucker can easily handle twice the load of the Harbor Freight -- and more quietly as well. In fact, the Lyman actually seems to do better with a larger load. The increase in weight seems to stabilize it and reduce the noise/vibration level. It also seems to do a much better, faster job, at least on pachinko balls, than the HF. I don't have any tokens to run through -- they've all already been done. But I do have a couple thousand PB's to clean. And so far, it's doing a very good job. I had to add some media, since it's 2 gal vs 1 gal for the HF, but it's zipping right along. I've already done about 2-3,000 PB's, with about 7k waiting in the wings. So far, definitely so good.

Some notes: The lid on the 2500 is solid; no slots. The bowl does come off, but when it's filled with media and balls or tokens, it's not really practical to reach down to the bottom of the center stem to remove the wing nut that holds the bowl on. But it's no big deal to dump it into a collander/sifter over a bucket and let the media run through before removing the items.

The only really odd feature about the 2500 is that it has no power switch -- not on the power cord and not on the body of the machine. It starts when you plug it in, and stops when you unplug it. No real biggie, just a bit odd/different than most all the other machines.

Rating of the Lyman 2500: (Two big thumbs up!)

My little Lyman 1200 pro has no power switch either, but the lid is not solid, it is slotted. It would work well for dumping the media out of balls, but tokens fall through the slots.

I guess that's just the way they're made. I was a little concerned when I read your review of the 1200 in that you said it was nosier than the HF. I was pleasantly surprised when I fired up the 2500 and it was quieter. But the caveat is that it seems to need to be filled up pretty full to settle it down. I did a run of only 200 pachinko balls and had to add more media because there didn't seem to be enough weight from the balls themselves to keep it from vibrating louder. But no doubt about it -- it's a quality machine, whereas the HF clearly was not. And the results from the 2500 are clearly superior to what I was getting from the HF; that's the most important thing. But in the end, no harm, no foul. They took back the HF (we were just within the 30 day limit), and I got the 2500 for a great price. All is good.

Update on the Lyman: After running through a couple of batched of pachinko balls I noticed that there was a crack in the seam around the circumference of the bowl. After a couple of emails back and forth to the seller, he agreed to pick up this one and send a replacement. (See photo below of the crack in the bowl)

these walnut shell things, is it something I have to order? or can I go to the local pet store? If so, What do I ask for when I walk into the store? Don't want to make it obvious that I don't know what I am doing..... and also, do I add any kind of a liquid to it? I mainly want to make them shinny and get to the point to where after playing pachislos for about an hour or two my finger and hands aren't black.

Also, what size do I want and what does this stuff look like?

I was using hot soapy water with viniger for about 10mins but the "silverish color" wears off and the wife grumbles at me for using her tupperware bowls.

crushed walnut shells at pet shop, do not add water to tumbler

a little Dawn or CLR with hot water is good for washing them in a bowl, then rinse and dry well

You can get tumblers and the media, corn cob or walnut, from a gun or sporting goods store. CLR does work but its a pain drying off 500 plus tokens with paper towels or the like.

Tried CLR about 2yrs. ago my silver colored tokens turned into a dark gold/brass color. Looking for something that is ummmmmm Scooby screw up proof....

Plus, over the last 6days I have gotten 2500 bi metal tokens and I would probably cry if I messed those up. Silver is shinny but the center is a dark tarnished color. and when I use them my hand, thumb, and finger turns black and they have a slight sticky feeling kind of like what the underside of a mouse pad feels like.

I used a mixture of "barkeepers friend" and water on one using an old toothbrush and it shined up awsomely and was slick as glass, but I don't have the time or patience to do the other 2,499. plus the way I do it, it would take a couple containers of the powder to clean them all.

the trick with the CLR is swirl around a little don't soak, and rinse right away.

always test a few tokens first before any cleaning

Where's everyone getting all those cool bi-metal tokens? I realize some of these posts are ancient, but I have to ask anyway. And all those pics of the cool quarter-like tokens and neat silver and bi-metal ones on page six. I've scoured the internet and can't find Jack other than generic ones. Oh yeah, if anyone's ever looking for assorted lots of tokens, this ain't the place:

    Highly collectible, my butt

I got these tokens yesterday and they were all the same exact lame-o silver tokens. OK, one token was different. Just one out of 200. I emailed them and registered my disgust at their misleading advertising. Losers.
