An interesting Phone call

WOW iv just had a phone call out of the blue from a producer of a TV series over here called Wire In The Blood (Robson Green looking for a pachinko machine that is going to appearer in one of the episodes about a guy that has become obsessed with everything Japanese he got my phone number from my web site and says basicaly the machines gonna feature heavily in the episode with the guy just sort of mesmerized playing the machine and staring in to it as it is a crime drama

So look out for a pachinko featured in another tv program and maybe pachinkosales written in the credits

Good luck with this, but a word of caution from someone who's seen what can happen to machines like this after it's been lent to a production company.

Firstly, you'll need a machine that has no licensed artwork, or prominent branding as the production company will not want to get involved with third party licensing.

Secondly, to them it's just a prop, and will be treated as such. They won't be worried about anything that is not going to show up on screen. It's no big deal for them if it gets a few scratches if they're not going to be visible to the viewer. So it is likely to get fairly rough handling, and may not be returned in the condition it was supplied.

You can also find that if it doesn't fit exactly what they are looking for, they may make modifications, and the original parts can be damaged or go missing entirely.

And finally, after all this, they might decide to drop that scene from the final cut, and you'll have nothing to show (or boast about down the pub!) to compensate you for the effort you've put in and the damage to your machine.

But if you do decide to go ahead, see if you can get to accompany the machine, and get yourself a day out on a production set. If not then ask for a couple of production photos showing the machine on set (with cast if possible!) and permission to put them on your web site. As a small article like this on your website can bring search hits from people who are looking for information about the series, and may end up with them deciding to buy a machine from you

I know what you mean the Triumph Chopper that I made was used in a TV show that was broadcast in your country. I never saw it but it was called Mickey Rourke for a day!

A small bit in some variety show or action show I forget. They were really rough with the way they had the actor sitting on it. you could tell the actor was completely foreign to machinery of any kind! I had to ride it for the moving shots!

It was also used in a Levis Poster that was used in Germany where they had the models standing on the seat with one foot and the other on the fender!!! On top of that they never paid me. Yet the poster was seen by my friends on vacation there. They said it was huge on a building.

They will not care one bit about your possession as the film world is more real to them.

We've had some issues with a certain famous skateboarding crew filming in our diner. It was quite an experience, as they kinda took over the place and did some pretty outrageous things without regard to our other customers... I just felt bad for my husband, he thought they were coming in for a peaceful dinner NOT!!!
