    Default Battle Counter Help Needed

I hooked up a Asahi Miina 21e battle counter to my Victory framed Magic Party pachinko machine and I can't get it to act properly. When I turn the machine on, the battle counter is all lit up, but there is no counting and it thinks it is in a constant fever by flashing all of it's lights. Apparently the battle counter plugs are different on the Victory frames and the Lumina frames?
Has anyone been successful in hooking up one of these battle counters to a Victory frame and if so steer me in the right direction?
    Thanks, Jerry

The CN numbers are different on the victory frame, but the Japanese writing should be the same, so you should be able to compare the writing on the instructions for the Lumina frame and find the right ones to connect to. If you can't get it to work, then post back and I'll take a look at one of my Victory framed machines.

Also remember that if the game is in a high probability Kakuhen round then the lights might flash on the battle counter even when you're not in a fever.

No luck. I tried everything and now the battlecounter just flashes red and white and will not respond to anything. I even hooked it up to a Lumina frame, with no change in it's reaction. I am stumped!

I am guessing that this battle counter cannot be hooked up on this Victory frame. It causes the battle counter to react strangely and now I think the battle counter is in some kind of error mode, possibly? I just can't get it to stop flashing, even when it's not hooked to anything except the power. Strange.
Hopefully DaveRob will have an answer.

There shouldn't be any problems connecting it up to the Victory frame, the outputs are pretty much the same spec as on the Lumina frame. It shouldn't be possible to cause any damage to the battle counter by connecting it to the wrong output on a Victory frame, as they are all opto-isolator outputs.

The big question is which lamps are flashing, as that will tell you what mode the battle counter is in. According to the manufacturer website ...

1,3,5,6 are lit if the call switch has been pressed.
1,3,5,6 alternating with 2,4,7 or lighting from the middle out indicates a fever round.
Sweeping left and right indicates an 'Event'.
1,2,6,7 indicates Kakuhen high probability mode.
    1,2 indicates the fraud alarm.
    1,4,5 indicates unit open.
    2,4,7 indicates door open.
    1,3,5,6 indicates lunch time.

The site doesn't tell you which lamps correspond with which numbers though, so this information might not help as much as it could.

Here is a pic of the battle counter flashing, alternating red and white. White in the center, red on the ends.
It is stuck in this mode. (i can't get it to change)
Here are pics of the pc board on the back of the Victory frame.
Pic #2 shows how I had the battle counter hooked it up at first.
It would light like it was in a fever.
Pic #3 shows the board without the battle counter hooked up.
I tried all evening to get the battle counter to change out of the flashing mode it seems to be stuck in. Is there any way to reset it? I tried numerous configurations with the machine on and off, while dropping balls in the center, no luck.
Any suggestions? I am going to keep at it. Maybe it will straighten itself out. I will try to get the machine into a Fever and hook it back up and see what happens.
I will keep you posted and any other suggestions are welcome!

Ok your initial connections weren't to the right connectors, and it might be stuck in a mode. I assume that you've tried pressing and holding the front panel buttons to see if they make any difference.

On the Victory frame the Red plug should go to J1CN2 (it might also work in J1CN1), the Green plug should go to J1CN3 and the Yellow plug should go to J1CN4.

Before reconnecting the battle counter, test it separately from the machine, you might be stuck in a mode, and it could take two runs through the test sequence below before everything starts working correctly.

To test the battle counter, unplug all the connections apart from power, and use a small bit of wire to bridge across the two pins of the start signal connector (red connector). Connect it for half a second then remove it, each time you do this the start pocket hit counter should increase by one.

Next take another small bit of wire and connect across the Ooatari input (green connector), leave this connected and you should get your bonus lights flashing, and the Bonus count should increase by one. Connect across the start pins a few times while in bonus round mode (it might advance the start counter but probably won't).

Disconnect both bits of wire and try a few connections of the start pocket input again, the start pocket hit count should reset and start counting from zero.

Now take a third piece of wire and connect the Ooatari input (green connector) and the Kakuhen input (yellow connector), again you should go into fever round mode and the bonus count will increment. Pulse the start pocket input a couple of times, then remove the wire from the Ooatari input (green), while leaving the Kakuhen (yellow) connected.

The pattern of flashing lights should change. Now pulse the start pocket a few more times, the start count should reset and start from zero again. Reconnect the green Ooatari connector, and you should get the Bonus counter increasing along with the consecutive bonus counter.

Disconnect both the wires on the Ooatari (green) and Kakuhen (yellow) connectors, and pulse the start pocket input (red) a few more times to make sure that the battle counter has gone back into normal mode play.

If it's still in kakuhen mode, the connect the ooatari (green) input for another fever round to see if it clears it.

If none of this works then it might be completely stuck in an error mode and need to be reset using the remote control handset.

Arby, That is my next step. Did you know that if you turn off the power to the battle counter, then hold in the left hand button, not the call button, turn the power back on, the battle counter will run a self test and light up everything, so you can see if anything is burned out. Then you turn the power off, then turn it back on again after a few moments, the battle counter will reset everything to zero. Pretty cool ! Now you can start from zero on everything!

But, It didn't solve my problem.

Daverob, I tried everything you suggested.
I was able to reset all of the info. in the window that shows all of your stats, change all of the numbers manually by following your steps, but the only thing that would not register is when you pulse the start pocket, there was no response from the battle counter. If stayed on zero. Even by resetting like I stated above, the battle counter is still flashing red and white.
When I hooked it up , the way you suggested, and I played a few balls, when the start pocket was hit, it would cause the battlecounter to go dark for a moment, then light back up.

I am going to try Arby's suggestion above, and see what happens in a few days.
Compirate said he would stop by and check it out for me, if the weather holds out here. (snowing today!)
I will keep at it. I thank everyone for all of your suggestions and help so far.
All of you are top notch people.

    Thanks,

And you are welcome! I want everyone that bought one to know about that reset info because it will help people understand what is going on since it starts everything from zero!

Arby, Thank you ever so much! I will send this one back to you and I am going to put it on a different machine. The Magic Party doesn't seem to want to accept a battle counter, I am guessing. There has to be a way to get it out of this "error mode" Once we learn it, we won't forget it. At least some good came out of all of this. We know how to reset them to zero now!

Thumbs up Re: Battle Counter Help Needed

Compirate stopped by and we tried different things to get the battlecounter back to normal. He thinks a remote would do the trick.
We had a good old time talking about everything pachi!
There really are some great people on this site!
I learned alot from his visit. I thank you compirate for all of your support!
