    Default Need permanent solution

Seeking advice on what I should use for a more permanent solution to hold up the top reel.

Right now I used what I had laying around the house which was an old phone cord and string.

I wrapped the cord around the reel and then tied string to the top bracket on each side of the reel, wrapped that around the cord and around the top back of the reel.

Are there any special straps or thin rope I could use instead?

have you tried contacting Gaku or Stealth for a replacement price if they have one.

you could go to your local hardware store and look over all the small brackets, you may be able to jerryrig some to mount the assembly a different way.

I tried Gaku, but since they haven't sold any MuMus for a long time they don't have any parts. This weekend I might have time to see what Home Depot may have.

I can't really tell from the pictures if this will work but did you try wire ties? There thin and strong and will hold tight. Home depot or lowes have them in all lenghts and thicknesses. I use them at work and around the house all the time.

unfortunately he bought from a person instead of a dealer.

thats one of the pitfalls of not buying from a real dealer.

Depends how handy you are with a Dremel tool. Get a couple of 1/4" or 1/2" wide by the height of that side flange by about a 1/16" thick aluminum strip (available at most good hobby stores). Might be able to be done with similar dimensioned plastic. Dremel notches in them to fit the sides of the reel case (pics below show crude example of what I'm talking about)

2 part epoxy or "Plastic Surgury" glue at broken places. if you till have all of the plastic with none missing. If you don't have the sheet metal skills an Aluminum tape applied in several layers is good in a pinch. I rebuilt a shattered vintage pachinko hopper with Aluminum, tape. Yooper tool kit = 3 rolls of duct tape.spool of hay wire and a hammer.
