Default Maybe Eddie can help with this?

I know how Eddie likes his hot sauces, maybe this has happened to him.
But does anyone know a good remedy for burning fingers from cutting jalapenos?
My wife was making some salsa last night, and she cut up some jalapenos without protecting her fingers.
Her fingers have been burning ever since.

She has tried that, but it is only temporary relief.
The burning comes back in a few minutes.

umm... It is the oil from the peppers that is causing the problem. Usually you use an oil to clean an oil. So I am going to guess maybe canola oil.

Hmmm... apparently that is called jalapeno hands and it is a real bugger. FRom what I've just read... try rubbing the hands on stainless steel for a little while, perhaps a sink. Some have had a small amount of success with hand sanitizers and also pepto bismal. Good luck!

Milk was going to be my suggestion but maybe something like butter might work in this situation.
Its the Fat molecules in Milk that absorb the capsaicin (The Heat producing Molecules in the peppers) Maybe if she can put her fingers in a really fatty substance it will draw out the capsaicin.
    I hope this helps.

It happened to me once, and I regretted it. It got under my fingernails, as I suspect is the case with your wife.

The only other thing I could recommend, is something to "cut" the pepper oil with, and (don't cringe) a fingernail brush for a few minutes ><

    Thanks guys
When she first said it last night, I thought she was imagining things
But then she said maybe it was from the jalapenos.
I had no idea, I don't think I have cut one up in my life.
She said she diced up about 5-6 of them, she was making a huge bowl of salsa for a work party.

Try Baking Soda. I would rub it dry onto my hands and then while that is working disolve some in water to get into the places were you can't work it dry.

Water will not remove the heat as the Capsaicin is oil based and the water will just spread it around thats why you should never drink water to get the heat out of something you just ate. How did the Salsa turn out anyway?

    It was awesome
Black beans, corn, red-orange-yellow peppers, jalapenos, red onion, garlic, roma tomato, olive oil, cilantro, salt & pepper to taste.
Much better than the store bought variety.

OK !!! I have the answer. After Exhausting research... it turns out that the best cure for this affliction are little blue gnomes. Rubbing these gnomes on the affected area will stop the burning immediately.

    Several websites confirm this.

The problem is, that after using one to cure the burning, they leave your hands blue.

NP tho' because the oil of ANY hot pepper will remove the discoloration
