    Default Glass for Older Pachinkos

You can get the glass cut at auto glass installers. you want the thinner safty glass (lamanated), I would stay away from the tempered glass like side windows, the ball shock might shadder it.

Have them grind all the edges for a 45 degree flat 1/16 to 3/32 inch all sides and front and back. That way it will seat in the glass troufes. Weasure tight fit and than back off a 1/16 inch.

Thought I would pass a little info on.

    Note get Clear not tint.

UPDATE yes you can use tempered glass, the newer process gives it stronger tensel strenght, remember to have them bevell all sides so it fits in the grove well

Depending on the glass co. $17.00 to 35.00. I would check around, but tell them about the grinding, they are setup to do it real fast on a large belt sander. and remember they can just eye ball the 45 degrees.

Also ask about the newer tempered glass, I have read some of the newer stuff will take sharp taps without shaddering. But I would talk to them.

Me I would stick with the lamanated myself. Plexaglass will scratch as used. even tho it's cheap.

I am restoring an old Nishijin and it looks like there are supposed to be two panes of glass, can someone confirm that. I figure it's to keep the noise down.

Yes, but very few have both in, you can use a tempered car type glass, but it needs to be beveled on all sides. some use window glass, but I took in one from a machine I have and was told it is tempered.

One of the panes in tact so I'll just take it with me to the glass store and have them cut me one just like it.
    Thank you,

The center piece on this machine is a really cool pair of dragons but the paint is mostly gone. Can I use model paint like Testors.

If you do, than clear coat with a hard clear coat, the brands exsape me at this time, check at the hardware store when there.

It will come to me sometime, but at my age the old hard drive in the head is slowing down. As other body parts.

The last three machines I have gotten all had Plexaglass only one piece, It seems the machines that use a round Glass it is a harden type glass and not plexaglass, but those that can take a square or reqtangle piece, it has been replaced with Plex.
    Futher info.

I talked to an importer yesterday and one of the things we talked about was glass breakage in containers and what they were doing about it. Seems they (the exporter?) have decided to go to plexiglass. The importer did not state to me whether or not the plexiglass was being added here or in Japan before shipping.
Also a lot of imformation was divulged about the current state of Pachinko exportation and pricing etc. that I will relay later on after it has been digested fully
