Default $752 final bid on vintage

Wow. They said it was new in the box and never used, but doesn't the back look like it was reconditioned?

I've seen the NIB thing with vintage machines before...usually what it means is that its still in the box that the US company that imported it used in the 70's, put it in!!

That's what I thought! Poor buyer. Someone even asked if it was new or reconditioned and the seller said new.

Where the machines imported back then, the same as now? Weren't they all just working units retired from parlors?

My first pachinko (which I still have) was imported by Target Abroad.. They were reconditioned machines, and advertised as such. I think it was $79.00, and that would have been in 1973. It did come well packaged in a box created by the importer. I'm not aware of any "new" machines coming over back then. A few years later I moved to San Mateo, CA. Pachinko Palace had a store there. Once again, all the machines were reconditioned and represented as such.

there are loads of items on Ebay listed as "NEW"

    but, then most sellers state
only used once, or a week or hardly used at all.

I think all the older pachinkos have been used or refurbished.

I was curious myself so I emailed and asked the seller again if it was new because I see the Parlor Stckers. He wrote back that since it was an estate sale he realy did not know but its in a box and looks new.

To me it sounded like it was used, he would not confirm that there had been no previous use. And was vague on any signs of use. I hope the new owner knows what there looking at.

I can't help but wonder if the lucky "winner" of this auction will actually pay for the item... that's a lot of dough to blow on a machine... you could get a couple really nice modern ones for that price!

Maybe he raided an old Japanese warehouse & found them all still boxed & in perfect condition.

Exclamation Re: $752 final bid on vintage

    The plot thickens!!

Well I guess I should have looked at the pictures closer, because this is not the same one as the $752 one...and not only that there are 2 more up today!! 4 "New" vintages...The first $752 one..the 2nd one posted about yesterday and now 2 more today!!

Now the second one makes sense the way it is listed, but the 2 new ones up today have BINs of $135 and $250!!

Now why after selling one for over $750 would you list 3 at the same time and 2 with "low" BINs??

Seeing the boxes would be nice to see if they have any info on where they came from!!

The 2 new ones have different wording...instead of "This machine is brand new in the box"..they say "This machine was imported into the U.S. and hasn't been opened/used since purchase in the U.S."

But they all say "This is not a refurbished machine." and "(only opened to take a picture and to wrap for shipping)"

My guess is still that they are just 4 bought and never used games from one of the importers from the 70s (Pachinko Palace, Target, etc..) and in no way NEW..as in never used in Japan!!(and i am never wrong!! )

    I reckon you are right,

the seller has probably found a stock of them gathering dust in a warehouse or something

and presumes them to be new / not refurbished as they are still packed in boxes??
