    Default New here, please help!

I just got a vintage pachinko machine. Its my first, since I had one as a kid. I was going to start cleaning it up and assembled all of my Q-Tips and such, when I decieded to try it out. The balls shoot fine, and drop out the back when you don't get it in a payout slot. The problem is, that when I open the front and put a ball into the payout slot, it doesn't pay out. Other than not paying out, all else seems to work fine. Any help would be appreciated. Remember, speak very slowly and talk into the flower, I'm a newbie with no idea, and no mechanical skills. Thanks.

The first thing I notice is a backup of balls there is a jam in the middle slightly to the left(as looking at the back). When a ball goes into the winning pockets, it's first trip is to the see saw style rocker on the left side in the middle. this rocker is balanced so it will accept the winning ball. make sure it is positioned so the right side of this rocker is up. when a winning ball goes into it, it will teeter down and release the preloaded winning balls (15 usually...located in the middle of the machine above the center area..its a raill that lines up then winning balls.)
Also, when the paytoff happens, they fall through the round center area usually ringing a bell and activating a light...it looks like that is clogged as well

I also am a "newbie" with almost the same story as above. I like the pictures because the wiring was gone from my machine, now I have an idea of where they go. Thanks

Thank you. I'm sorry that I put it in the wrong place. I'm about as computer literate as I am mechanically inclined. I see from other posts that you are probably one of the most knowledgeable (sp?) here. I see that you have a business that sells pachinkos? Can you help me get mine fixed? Thank you for your time and consideration.

Just don't let it happen again! I am SO kidding there Arby is in fact one of the most knowledgeable and beloved people here, nevermind that he is in Blue letters which makes him one of the Site Moderators. I am sure he was happy to put your post in a place where those with the capability to help will look.

Here are a few pics of how a typical pachinko works...It's truly a balancing act. This machine is older than yours, but has the same general operation.

In this first picture. The only balls in the machine are in the hopper and on the payout rail

There should be no other balls in the machine accept for what is at the top.

This next picture shows the payoff toggle...it's like a see saw that waits for a winning ball. as seen in the first picture...the ball acceptor is up.

In the next photo, it is down...as if it just received a ball.
The ball will go down the chute and activate the payout lever.

As the ball falls, it will trip the lever, and the lever will push up on the winning rail at the top...dumping the balls...WINNER!

In this machine, the payout lever falls against a switch and lights the center of the machine. Also, as the balls fall through the center (can't see it) they fall against a bell.

and then out into the winner tray at the front of the machine. The Machine will then reset the payout slide and it's ready to go.

Since the whole machine is activatated by this ball activator, it must be in the ready position...UP. If two balls reach it at the same time, the second ball will be diverted and into a credit are for future collection (the little lever on the front of the machine)

On your machine, there is a hopper dump. it goes all the way from the top straight down to the bucket. it's only used to empty the hopper.

Also, there are only two lights on this machine. one for the win, and the other is a Hopper Empty light.

It appears your machine has these lights at the top. the left should be the win light, and the right should be the hopper empty light.

I hope this helps explain the workings of the machine

Thanks for the pics and explanations, the green arrows really made it easy to understand. So I can take off all of this green plastic on the back of mine to clear out all of the balls? Do I have to put all the plastic back on or can I leave it off like it is in your pictures?
    Thanks,
    Jim

You shouldn't have to take off any plastic
If you see a ball jammed an can't figure out why, I would see if there is a trip lever you can hit, or You can take a small oblect, like a close hanger, to mainpulate the ball through. I wouldn't bother romoving the plastic. My machine is older. Instead of plastic tracks...it has metal. There is no plastic that I removed.

You may be able to get the balls out without taking it all apart but if you do just be very carefull and make sure to put everything back the same way or it may not work right.

Take pictures and keep things in order and you will not have any trouble.

The top half of the machine looks allright. Its the bottom half that has the ball jams. Start with the area at the botton just off to the right, then geet all the balls out of the jam just to the left of the toggle (square opening to the right below center.

I would empty the top hopper, remove all the balls from the tracks that you can, flip the machine upside down and ever so gently bang the living @#$(* out of it, in the areas where the jams are.
