Now see this I do not understand... take a semi-automatic handgun a 9mm for instance, that could be converted to a fully automatic, does that mean that they will band them??

This really is nothing new for Indiana, as posted by our dearly departed moderator Gwarzin in January of 2005, who also lived in Indiana.

Believe me folks, this opinion which is 3 years old is still probably much more valid than the source of this drivel.

    IC 35-45-5-1 Version b
    Definitions
Note: This version of section amended by P.L.227-2007, SEC.64. See also preceding version of this section amended by P.L.2-2007, SEC.377.
Sec. 1. (a) The definitions in this section apply throughout this chapter.
    (b) "Electronic gaming device" means any electromechanical device, electrical device, or machine that satisfies at least one (1) of the following requirements:
    (1) It is a contrivance which for consideration affords the player an opportunity to obtain money or other items of value, the award of which is determined by chance even if accomplished by some skill, whether or not the prize is automatically paid by the contrivance.
    (2) It is a slot machine or any simulation or variation of a slot machine.
    (3) It is a matchup or lineup game machine or device operated for consideration, in which two (2) or more numerals, symbols, letters, or icons align in a winning combination on one (1) or more lines vertically, horizontally, diagonally, or otherwise, without assistance by the player. The use of a skill stop is not considered assistance by the player.
Seems to me they specify skill stop right there, and it's not considered to be 'assistance'... therefore, an 'electronic gaming device'.

    However, I'm not a lawyer.
And I'm certainly not a judge.

BUT... it would seem to me that this would be the LEAST of this person's worries, considering the accusations of interstate fraud we've heard about.

While it references skil stop, you still have to factor in and what wasn't referred to and is probably in another statue is the "thing of value". Since we all know a skil stop can be converted to accept real money, it would easily be illegal in states that don't allow slot machine sales.

However, like many states, as long as they don't produce a thing of value and a token in not deemed to be a thing of value as is a free spin, they become perfectly legal, as they are in Oklahoma. This is what Gary was referencing in his old post.

I'm sure it's referenced in the law somewhere, but aren't a lot of arcade games therefore illegal? Coin pushers, crane games, and a lot of vending machines I've dealt with! We need to fight these Dave & Busters/Chuckie Cheese Den of Iniquities!

Really the only big deal is, is that the state isn't getting a cut somehow and they don't like that.

A few years ago the sherriff's office raided and shut down all the cherrymaster places here in Bradenton that were giving out gift cards for wins. they took all the machines also.

In Sarasota which is in a different county places are still open and in business.

it all boils down to if they aren't getting their cut it's illegal.
