    1. power off the game

    2. remove the 2 eproms u15 and u12 and insert the clear chips in the correct spots. make sure there not upside down.

    3. put back board and turn on game. you should see a code like PCL or CCL something like that then it should blink.

    4. turn off game and put back the other chips.

    5. turn on game and you should be ready to go.

    Very easy.
I'll email you my cell # in case you need help. I never master reset a 5500 but its the same procedure as a s6000.

    Chris,
Simple as pie. This will be fantastic if they fix my problem. Even if not it is not a big investment to at least try to get it going. I really appreciate you help and I will report back with the results. I have my fingers crossed.

I have another question while I am waiting for the clear RAM chips to come. This machine has a coin comparator in the coin slot that looks like you slide in a sample of the coin you want to use with the machine. First is that really the case and what are the limitations of the coins you can use? Could I use quarters, or perhaps pachi tokens? Size limits I guess would be based on the hopper which has what I guess is a sample of the optimum size coin glued in the bottom of it. Anyone know about these things?

yes, you put in the sample coin you want to comparator to validate. Pachi tokens have been tested by other member and work well. But it depends on your coin block(the slot you drop your coin in to) and the hopper. if you have a quarter hopper then quarters and pachi tokens is all that will work. If you have a dollar hopper and coin block then you must use dollars. what demon is your game ? On S6000's the denom can be changed by dip switches. I'm not sure about the 5500, I didn't see dip switches in the picture you posted.

Not really sure what the denom is. I just assumed quarters. The coin size slug stuck to the inside of the hopper is about the size of a quarter. Where would I find a coin block if it is there? Also don't see any dip switches anywhere. I did find a small circuit board below the coin comparator that has what looks like and eprom in it and someone has written 50cents on it with a sharpie. Hm, maybe it is 50 cents. Maybe I could use the larger tokens or do I need to change the eprom in this board. This gets more interesting all the time.

The small board under the comparitor is what we call the optics board. it makes sure coins are passing both sets of optics at the right speed. prevents the old coin on the fishing line trick. drop coins through the slot, if its a quarter game half dollars won't fit. if they fit then most likely its a .50 cent game.
BTW I mean quarter size and fifty cent size TOKENS. I would never talk about using real currency.

30 PAI tokens are very close to the size of the U.S. half dollar.

they are used in Okeniwa on pachis for the troops on R and R.

Well if I put a large token in the comparator it passes thru. If I put a small token in the comparator it does as well. BV? WBA?

Well it does have a BV but can't find a WBA number on it anywhere. It is a Checkmatic AS-4560-29 and has a tag that says 146 V3.11-06 which I guess is some software version.
