    Default Bally arm on pachislo?

I have a Vegas Bally machine that is not repairable and I would like to take the arm and install it on one of my Pachislos. Anyone ever do this?

I have an IGT arm installed on my Hound Dog Pachislo. One of the members here, alstonj1 was kind enough to engineer the installation for me. I like it, although you will find that the pachi purists among us do not

do you have some pictures of the arm in question ? the arm that I've been using is from an igt machine but if this is the arm im thinking of it will probably work . but it would help to see it first then i can probably walk you through the installation . If your intent on installing the arm you might want to stop reading after this post because i can guarantee there will be a long procession of posts on why the game is better if you play it with out any mods ... but the truth is the arm doesn't make any difference in the actual game play over hitting the start knob .Some people just are obsessed with the size or their knob and want to believe that size doesn't matter when in fact it does to many people !!! Allot of people want a big rod to pull not a puny little one to some they wont even play at all if they don't have a big one ...

I am leaving this one well alone. I just hope things don't get too heated.

    Chris,
The machine I have is a Bally Stars and Stripes. And it has a "Safe RAM" error which I understand is serious and requires a licensed gaming tech to fix it. So I have a really interesting lamp or a boat anchor so I thought I would at least make use of the arm. I know most purist don't want to use one but I thought it would be nice to have a real Vegas arm on at least one machine. Try to get some pictures later today.
    Thanks,

I need the model. if its an s6000 no problem. If its an older model then it might be harder to get clear chips. Any way a safe ram error just needs to be master reset. If it happens over and over then the cpu board needs to be replaced. If its an s6000 I have everything you need to fix it. What error code is it displaying? should be eighty something.

    Chris,
It is error code 83 F and I do remember reading that it needs a clear RAM chip to get it started. Would be fantastic if we could fix this thing. The model number on the side is S63M3UT-10. Manufactured 6/94. Don't know if that is S6000 or not. Can you tell from that, or is there somewhere else I can look?

yea I think thats an S6000. Sweet. I need you pull the cpu and give me the numbers on your mains (the two large eproms U42 and U28) I need to know what mains your using to get you the proper clear chips. Can you take some pictures of the board for me.

    Chris,
OK, I attached the photos. Hope I did it right. The Eprom numbers you asked for don't match on this CPU. Maybe you can identify it from the photos. Just more info, the error started out as 81, battery low. The battery was replaced and 83 F came up next. Don't know if a bad battery can scramble the RAM.

You can't replace a battery with out master reseting the game.

That makes sense to me. Just tell me how. It is obviously not the reset button on the front.

That board looks different then the ones we use now. Can you get clear chips from the place you bought it from? If yes I could walk you thru the process. If not ,this is what I can do PM me your address. Ill send you a new CPU with new mains already master reset. you would just have to put in the u18 and u20 chip. If it works great if not your no worse off. Just send me back the stuff. based on that model number S63M3UT-10 it should work . S6=S6000. the S stands for stepper. If it was a video it would start with V.

Sent you an Email with pictures of serial number plate and front and back of CPU to help identify it.

I got the pictures. I'm a little stumped. the model number is a s6000 but that board looks like one from a 5500. S6000's use U28 and U43 eproms as there Mains. Here is a picture of the boards we use. The oldest games we have in the state are 97's so Its possible the older s6000 were different. Anyway don't start ripping apart your game just yet. the only thing wrong with it is that it needs a master reset. Stealth and otis51 sell older bally games. One of them might have clear chips. or check e-bay, they show up once in a while. I'll keep looking too.

I think I found what you need.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/BALLY-CLEAR-THAT...QQcmdZViewItem

They are marked u15 and u12 just like your board. which means you do have s5500 or at least s5500 guts.
