    Thanks for sharing that, Dawn!
well ive heard various theories in regards to the actual Birth of Christ and that it was not in December
but rather in the spring , based on the information given to us in the bible re census etc etc

and that one of the reasons December was selected by the "Church" as a way to make the church grow by bringing the celebration closer to the Winter solstice december 21 which was celebrated by the Pagans, this gave them an easier way of approaching the "Heathens" so since we have a holiday at the same time its easier for you make the switch.

    more of a marketing campaign...

I cant seem to find the supporting documents at for this but i will look a bti for it. interesting theory more then anything else.

Hey... I'm all for celebrating it in the spring, too.

Actually, I think we should celebrate it every day of the year, just to make sure we get it right.

I was watching the history channel one evening and they were suggesting that had the wise men been actually following the north star to Bethlehem and tracking backwards the stars position at that time in history would have put the birth sometime in September.

There are many things that go through my mind this time of year. And there are many things I am thankful for.

Christmas... For a lot of people is the day that celebrates the birth of Jesus. True, it isn't the day he was really born on. But there are many people through out the world who do not know the date of their real birth. This will probably include my own daughter. But like her, a date was and will be chosen to celebrate their's and her day of birth. This makes the day no less special. For many others, Christmas is the day they celebrate family. Buying small tokens of love and gathering for a warming meal are highlights of this traditional scene.

Well I have never had a easy life, I am very thankful for the many blessings I have been given. My joys, family and friends (especially the ones here) more than out way any stumbling blocks that have been placed in front of me. This year has set many milestones for me. And I know this coming year will bring the greatest of journies... and the greatest of gifts to me and my wife.

And maybe it is with some guilt I can't help but wonder what I could have done right that has taken me to this point in life. And as I look around, I know that is not the case with many people. For most people it is a struggle to make ends meet. They barely have enough money to put food of the table. I can't help but wonder what this time of year means to them ...

There is a wonderful policy that some here have taken up. And that is the idea of paying it forward. I can't help but think what better time of year for such a concept to take place. So it is with reverence that I ask that we each find a way to make a difference this Christmas. It doesn't need to be a monetary issue. Just one small act of kindness is all it takes. No act of kindness is too small.

One of the highlights of the news tonight was of a school collecting pennies for charity. One penny at a time, they manage to collect $14,000...One act of kindness...One penny at a time...

My favorite Christmas song of all time has always been "A Little Drummer Boy". It is a very simple melody and lyrics. But this song with its simple message says so much. It is not who we are... or how much we give that matters.

The musical version of the "Widow's Gift".
