Default First Buy, How Did I do?

I purchased my first machine, a Don Don King it can be seen at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...55548&rd=1

Tulsa provided me with the link to the site as a result of an earlier request. Thank you Tulsa. I paid $188 and the seller is Pachinko Palace. I expect I may have paid a bit more than you experts would, but I really wanted to get one of these machines. Can't wait to surprise the wife. I am already trying to figure out where in my home I can set up multiple machines. Live in a condo, no garage. May be a bit of a challenge

I don't think you paid too much at all. It's not only the cost of the machine but the value you get with it. A lifetime warranty from the oldest vendor in the business and that snazzy case. They do a great job on that case, it's not just painted like most others. Also remember to let Eric know that you're a member here to get the free 450 tokens! 8-)

 Nice buy. I don't think you paid too much for it, and I think most of the people here would agree. The value of these things is directly proportional to how much fun you have with it. Also you bought from one of the good vendors. You'll get a nice clean machine with good packaging and fast shipping.

Pachinko_Pallace will give you an extra 450 free tokens if you mention that you're a member of PachiTalk!

Anyway, it's a really nice surprise for your wife. Have fun!

 Ah, I see Tulsa got a reply in ahead of me. Just wanted to mention the free tokens, I missed it by this much: {holds thumb and forefinger a 1/4" apart}.

If you need room for more machines, just get rid of the washer and dryer. Talk about a waste of space...

I think you did pretty darn well, bmatonte, for the time of year! I wanted one of these prior to Christmas for our Christmas Eve party and paid slightly more than you did, but it's worth it to me. If you want a deal, guess you could wait for awhile, but then you lose playing time.

Wonder how you like your new DDK??? :?:

Merry Christmas. I could not play with the DDK until Christmas. My wife and son had no idea what was in the big box..upon which sat the little Christmas tree. When they opened it they were totally surprised !

I had opened the box partially to inspect it upon receipt from Pachinko Palace. The laminate on the top was damaged, pushed down where it seemed it covered vent holes. Pachinko P sent me two replacement pieces of laminate...but I decided to just paint the top and leave the vents (if that is what they are) uncovered. Looks okay to me. Pachinko P also gave me the xtra 400 tokens for being a member of PachiTalk.

After we took it out of the box and set it on a stand I went to open it to turn it on and I couldn't unlock it. I thought they sent the wrong key..wife and son were looking mighty disappointed  . Then I just tried real hard and it opened. Seems I should lift up on the door a little to relieve pressure on the lock.

Next I started to play...and I tell you what, I must have it the Big Bonus or something, that thing started lighting up and making all sorts of noise, flashing and ringing. The reels on top showed the DDK symbol complete. Unfortunately, it was set at high volume. I had to pull the plug and do a reset to stop the noise. Thanks to some help from here I managed to find the volume control. Now everything is great...except I have yet to hit the Bonus again.

If you're having to lift up on the door quite a bit, you might look at the door hinges and see if they are adjustable. My Dragon Dice door and I had quite the battle until I got the hinges adjusted. Now it's smooth and easy to open.

Thanks Tulsa...I'll check the hinges. Although I am real nervous about working inside the machine...not that I am dumb...but WOW :smt120 ...lots of electronics and wires inside one of these babies.

Rule #1 or possibly #1A or maybe even #26, states that you need to completely dismantle a machine and put it back together again. Certainly play it for a couple of weeks first and/or wait till your second machine comes in, (yes you will get a second one) and then dismantle the first. Once you see they are all basically plug and play you'll be much more comfortable working on them.

This also helps when an issue arises and the vendor can just send you the part to repair it instead of having to send the machine back to them. Just note as you go where everything came from to start with.

This is a great site...lots of advice and quick responses. With this kind of backup I feel confident I can work through any problem. And yes...great suggestion Tulsa...just get the part, don't ship the machine. In fact I had already thought through the process of having to ship the machine back. Cost of packing and round trip freight is more than we generally pay for the machine. No wonder there is a lifetime guarantee.

usually about the frist week or so they will just put a call tag on it and they pay for return shipping,

customer service will alway talk you thru your problem over the phone, if they think it needs a new part they will ship it to you and talk you thru installing it.

but, if they are working when you get them they should work for years to come.

don't forget they design them for 24/7 casino play in japan

One note on this subject. Most people would think to shutoff power to machine first before working on it. but just in case not just for the safety of the person working on it also some electronics don't take kindly to being unhooked with power to them.
