    Default Guitar Hero III

I just bought a Guitar Hero III for Wii on ebay today. Not too bad, $115 BIN... but then I saw this...

So that guy is selling 2 Wiis and GH III ($600-ish value) and has a Buy It Now of $4000??? The crazy people are out on eBay trying to con people out of Christmas money! I wonder what his reserve is??? $3999.99? Crazy people!

    Enjoy GH III.

Well...I guess I should not have assumed Guitar Hero for Wii would be very hard to come by... I was happy with the $115 until I just saw them at Kmart for $89.99. I guess I should have snatched the two out of the case and put them up on ebay

I'm not sure what guitar hero is but for that kind of money it had better come with it's own groupie chicks.

I have the Xbox 360 versions of Hero II and Hero III. It is a big hit over here. Once the kids start playing they are at it for hours, and I like it to!

Is it as hard as it looks? DDR I can handle...there's only 4 directions. I even do ok in Karaoke Revolution. Do you actually have to know how to play guitar?

Guitar Hero is just DDR for the fingers you dont have to know anything about playing guitar.

If you want to improve your DDR mat for much better play do as I did.

Tape it to a wood board using packing tape on the edges of the mat and cover with vinyl carpet protectors stapled to the wood edges and back.

I tried to find the vinyl without the lines but all of the stores near me were out. I painted the wood black for a better appearance! It works really great. Firm feel and doesnt slip.Makes a huge difference playing the game.

Absolutely not!!! In fact, I've played guitar since I was 11 years old (I'm 40 this year...) I have some guys in their 20's at my place of employment that are obsessed with this game. I thought to myself, 'My God, I've played guitar for almost 30 years and actually KNOW how to play some of these songs they talk about (Bark At The Moon, etc.) note for note. I will smoke them!

Not the case at all... I SUCKED. It's all about punching the right buttons at the right time and has nothing to do with musical talent.

That said, it's a fun game. It's just not something that I will ever excel at. However, it always seems to get kids to want to learn to play guitar, so that's a good thing!

    Guitar Hero really rocks!!

I have the Xbox 360 version and although I can't play the real thing, much to the dismay of my Dad,
I do have fantastic fun playing this particular 'guitar'

The great thing is that you can play at any level, or practice certain songs even slowing them down,
and it's great for all ages, My 10 year old daughter and myself take turns trying to outdo each other,
all I really need is another 'Xplorer Guitar' and we can go head to head combat

Playing head-to-head in co-op mode is lots of fun. One player does the bass and the other does the lead or rhythm notes. Each player can adjust their own degree of difficulty; from easy to shear madness.

The game is simplified in a manner that doesn't require any guitar skills yet when you feel the rhythm and hit the "notes" just right you feel as if you became the second coming of Eddie Van Halen.

Just listening to the music is very enjoyable and is great fun in a party setting.

So was that YouTube video of someone playing Barracuda on a harder setting? Not seeing how the guitar works, it seems hard. I'll have to look for a video showing the players fingers.

Eddie, I'll have to try something like that on our DDR pads. Mine unzip along the edge and have 1" foam inserts. Foam is wearing out beneath the arrows, plus they tend to slide all over the place. I wonder if I could put the plywood inside in place of the foam?

I was in bestbuy tonight and saw some kids playing a drum set set up in front of that same video. Guitar Hero was everywhere but only for xbox and PS2. I didn't see a PS3 or Wii anywhere. The kids seemed to be enjoying their selves with the drum set though.

Oh no, no, no... that was not me.
Just a nice example on YouTube of one of my favorite songs.

If it had been me playing there would have been lots more mistakes, and only three lines (easy setting).

There are five 'fret' buttons on the neck that match up with the lines on the screen in position and color. And there is a 'strum' paddle that you use to hit the notes at the right time. Although with many riffs you can also use the 'hammer-on, pull-off' technique.

My daughter has already beaten it on easy level, all the way through the final boss... Lou (Lucifer).

YouTube - Guitar Hero 3 - Devil Went Down to Georgia expert complete!

(This is not her, but an example of that final battle on 'hard' setting... don't let this discourage you... they aren't all this hard! What this vid shows is the hardest it gets! )

As for me... I'm having fun with it, but still haven't even made my world tour yet.

My six year old and I are just starting to play it on easy and he's way better than I am. The game is a lot of fun.

Coming soon is "Garage Band" where you have a singer, drummer, guitar and bass. Same concept as "Guitar Hero" but on a bigger scale. Looks awesome!

Dattia, just kick back and enjoy. You're going to love it!
