My instructions also said turn it on and off with the power switch, which I intend to do. I will also use a strip as well, so once I switch the machine off, I can then cut the power at the power strip. Makes sense, with any electronic device turn it off first....then cut the power.

OK, some of y'all turn the internal switch off AND turn off electricity to the machine on top of that with a power strip.

Is it necessary to turn the machine off inside, or will just turning it on and off via the power strip (leaving the internal switch to "ON" all the time) be OK or could this do damage? :?:

I've always just used the switch on the power strip (well actually an X10 module that feeds the power strip - but that's effectively the same thing). The power switch on the inside of the machine is always left in the on position. I've never had a problem with this.

Some how I can not imagine a Japanese Pachislo parlor going down every row of machines and opening each door to turn their machines off and then going through that same drawn out procedure again to turn them on. They must just kill the power to them all. (But then, maybe they are open 24 hours a day.)

If you kill the switch at the power strip then no electricity is going to go to the machine at all. This is generally not going to be an issue and is probably going to save your 24v transformers some of their life. However some of the slots like the K1 Punch Rush allow you to control volume through their menu system. This setting is killed completely if you remove power completely from your machines. A small price to pay in my opinion as electricity is heat and heat is death!
