    Default Advice on loud reels

Hey all, I just received my very good looking Death Valley from Gaku, but I am a bit disappointed in how loud the reels are. I read through a few threads that said the reels do run a bit loud, but this is a bit annoying. I actually got rid of my Neo Planett999 because of the reel noise, but this is even louder. It is actually only the first reel that is making all the racket, so I'm wondering if there is something that can be done. I have never taken a machine apart, so I am not sure how to get at the motor to spray something on it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks, Reed

I have Death Valley and the reels are not that bad. Neo Planet or any Yamasa for that matter are a lot worse. It just might be reel one like you said. Make sure everthing is tight sometimes the noise is vibration. Otherwise swap the reel position to confirm its that reel and see if Gaku would replace it for you.

Thanks Chris, it does almost sound like a vibration issue. i'll try and monkey with it a bit.

I had the same problem with my DV. It turned out the door was vibrating from the spinning reels and that added to the noise. I fixed it by putting a small piece of foam rubber on the doors outer edge and then carefully closing the door to keep the foam in place. You can also place some kind of mat under the pachislo to help deaden the vibrating and reduce the noise.
    Good luck!!

    Well, that's weird.

I took out the reel and very lightly sprayed some WD-40 on the motor. Put it back in and nothing changed.

I started spinning the reels with the door open to see if it was rubbing on something. Then I started to press on parts of the plastic that the reels are screwed to while they spun. Then, suddenly, it sounded like it had gotten better.

I closed the door and spun the reels and now you can barely hear any of them except for a small, barely noticeable hum.

I'm off now to pump about 3000 tokens through it...
