Default Operator menus, setting the odds

So I've seen some pictures of an operator menu (all in Japanese of course) where you can get a bunch of information and set the odds on a machine. I have friends who are fluent in the language so I was hoping if I could figure out how to get into the operator menu's on a Sammy and a Sankyo machine then I could tweak the odds in our favor and check out what other options the machines have.

My only guess is that some of the connectors on the upper rear part of the Pachi are for connecting the maintenance keys or dongles or something like that.

the only way to change the odds is adjusting the nails for more balls in the start pocket.

thats why they have the nail adjusting kits.

the connections are for other info, like how many fevers, balls played and balls won etc.

As luckydog said, the only practical way to change the odds is to adjust the nails. The only other way would be to reverse engineer and modify the software running on the secure processor on the main control board.

The other connectors on the back of the machine are for connecting to battle counters and for feeding statistics back to the parlour computer (two pin header connectors or loudspeaker style connectors), connecting to a verification terminal to ensure the machine software hasn't been tampered with (the red connector with the slot in it, and the RJ-12 phone style connectors), and for connecting the dongle/prepaid card unit (25 way D printer port style connector).

The only game's I've seen with 'operator menus' are Aruze/Mizuho games in the 20" LCD 'Airvision' frame. These menus only allow a few cosmetic changes to gameplay, with no effect on the odds, and also show a bit of information to the operator.

Not to hijack this thread but Daverob mentions the Aruze/Mizuho frames and the menus.
I have one (Fireworks) and would love to know how to manipulate the user choices. Can I change the screen appearance? What can I change?
    Thanks !

To be honest I can't remember how to get into the menus on these machines. I got the information about accessing the menu's from this site, but a quick search only brings up this thread, which doesn't mention how to do it.

I guess it must have been something obvious, like pressing one of the front panel A, B buttons while powering up, or maybe there's another button on the back to press when powering up.

I would have a go myself, but it's getting late over here, and I can't easily get to my Cutie Honey, as it's behind all of the pinball machines I've just packed up ready to take to the UKPinball show.

I've done it accidentally on my Cutie Honey a few times, but I couldn't tell you how. The only thing I remember was that it had a setting relating to a dipswitch. I couldn't translate the rest, so I really didn't want to mess with it.

Friends, the menu is accessed from the front of the machiine by 2 buttons right next to the parlor card buttons. When I push it it takes me to a menu with a series of Japanese titles. That is where I am stuck.

I have the Sparrow Emperor Club pachinko by Aruze/Mizuho. To access the data screens you just use the two buttons other than the standard parlor ones. The screens are pretty much the same as you get on the Aruze pachislos - the odds (unchangeable), the win/lose graph, some other info describing something about which I have no clue (unchangeable) etc. The pachinko does have an additional screen where it appears you can change the background a little. In my case I can select the mah jong table design and the background, but any changes I make don't seem to stick. It could be that I can only make changes at certain times, I don't know.

As with the pachislos, the only screen that I find of any real interest is the win/lose graph.
