    Default Home Recreation Superstore

On a whim, I bought a second Golgo 13 pachinko (on a quest for all three cells) from an unknown ebay dealer called homerecreationsuperstore, and here's a quick review of a terrific transaction.

One thing that had me worried from the start was their shipping charge of only $45. They are located in Wichita, so I considered driving down to pick it up because I figured it would arrived wrapped in newspaper and a pillowcase, but it was wrapped, packed in foam, and shipped in a nice sturdy box!

They included a heavy plastic box for the spent balls, pre-installed volume controls, nice sturdy feet, 500 mostly clean balls, and a strange custom made Heiwa manual in English. For the most part, the machine was nice and clean, requiring only a quick Windex-ing before I fired it up.

The only two complaints that I have are that they do not supply a door key (for one reason or another) and they drilled a tiny pin sized hole in the front of the machine. I couldn't figure out why they did this, but after reading through their "manual" it allows access to the ball dump from the front of the machine. They sent a tiny little rod that sticks through the hole, hits the lever, and dumps the balls. I like the idea, but I'm not a big fan of drilling a hole in the front of the machine. Luckily with the machine colors, it's not noticeable...

The few machines they have listed are a little high, but they have the OBO option, and they seem willing to take a reasonable offer. All in all, I'm very happy with them, and I'd be willing to try them out again if they come up with anything else I can't live without.

    Good
Nice packing, clean machine, pre-installed volume controls

    Bad
A little high priced before haggling, no door key

    Ugly
Hole drilled in front of machine for access to ball dump

Pachislo.com did the same thing no lock or key and the pin hole. Maybe the game came from them.

Some machines come from the factory with the hole in the front for the ball dump, so it might not have been done by the vendor.

The Heiwa 'Hotaru' frame is certainly one of the factory ones, as it's present on all the examples I've seen (Batman, Pretty Band, Dragon Monkey). Golgo 13 is in one of their Heiwa Bros frame styles, and was released at the same time that the Hotaru frame was being used, so it's possible that it might use the same style ball dump mechanism.

My Gamera 40th Aniversary Pachinko has the small hole in the case for the ball dump switch...I use a toothpick when needed. I like that feature. It's definately factory done.

I guess it's entirely possible that I've missed it on my other Golgo machine... I'll have to check it out when I get home from work.

Almost ALL my machines have a tiny hole in the front face, usually on the left side midway up on the case. I have seen this in my friends machines too.

I'm sure thats done at the factory, it allows the palours to clear the tracks without opening the door.

I have four pachinko machines, a Nishijin and Daiichi from the 60's, a Nishijin from the 80's and a Sankyo Fever Ghost. All have a hole for the ball dump. The older machines all have a plastic bezel around the hold, on the Sankyo machine it is just cast into the plastic. I'm sure that the reason for the dump was to get the weight of the balls out of the machine before swinging it open.

I have gotten them where to hole is there, but not punched out so you can use a pin to dump the balls

All my Heiwa's came factory drilled this way. A straightened paperclip works great!

I think Arby's got a cute little pin thing with a heart on the end to accomplish this task.

And I wouldn't say drilled, would think it's molded that way.

Well, I checked them all out last night when I got home, and only the two Heiwa's had the hole. I was hoping I hadn't missed it on all of them all this time... I'm also glad to know that's it's a factory thing, and not a guy with a powerdrill thing. I learn something new everyday!

My Okumura Robocop has a factory hole.

Thanks for the review...I've wondered about them. Let's hope they stick around and keep up the good work.
