    Default Cheap paint tray mod

Here is a cheap paint tray mod.

    Materials:

    8 3" lengths of 2" x 4"
    8 1-1/4" or 1-1/2 wood screws
    8 2" thin headless nails
    2 #8 x 1/2" wood screws
    1 nice paint tray
1 6" length of duct strapping
old motor oil bottle empty, drained and cleaned or a 99 cent funnel shown on attached image.

    Tools/Other
Hammer, electric screw driver, wood glue, clamp, hacksaw

    Instructions
    Pretty much self explanitory
1.) Nail, glue and clamp 2 of the 2"x4" together
2.)Screw from the top the 4 blocks to each corner of the wooden feet making sure the screws that hold the feet to the frame are not blocked.
3.)Cut the oil bottle at a 45 degree angle starting on the side opposite of the screw cap. The cut should start 2"-2-1/2" from the top of the bottle opposite the screw cap.
4.) Test place bottle/funnel and paint tray, tray may only be slid out from back. See image #2, bottle will be at about a 45 degree angle. Note the screw holes from trying it the other way (transformer gets in way) and the yellow funnnel has a slightly different angle.
    5.)Screw bottle/funnel with strap and #8 Screws.

The bottle works slightly better than the funnel because the balls can swirl around in the funnel for a long time and sometimes jump out or collide with other balls.

To the left on the first picture is the 3" wide piece of stair tread I was using. It worked well but the balls tended to bounce outward about a inch. The curved end would fit around the frame and the flat end would squeeze through the front door keeping it tight without nails or screws.

The tray was a nice one that I found at Wal-Mart for $2 but a $1 from Lowes works just as well with some crepe foam for sound deadening. But it is not as sturdy and may need a bit more slope. I may screw a piece of scrap wood to increase the angle and make it stiffer.

The funnel came from Wal-Mart and was about a buck in a half, the stand was $10 from target. The pachi is a Sankyo from CF/SS.

Those are the same trays I use but I was having a hard time finding them. Thanks for letting me know where to get them.
