    Default Token Overflow Bins?

The Hanabi Hyakkei I just received from DGI did not come with a token overflow bin.

All the ones I have, and others I have seen, all had the bins.

Is it "normal" for them to ship with bins?

Should I call DGI up and make them send me one?

    Thanks,

    Dave

I wouldn't make that call. Only about half of mine came with the trays. Most vendors will ship them if they came to them inside.

I second that, not all of mine have come with them either.

I wish they all came with them!

    OK - Sounds good.

What I might do is call them and act dumb (which isn't hard for me to do :-) ), and ask.

    Never hurts to ask.....

Same here. About 30% of the time there are no overflow bins. When there are, more than half the time they've had the bottoms cut out so they simply act as funnels directing the overflow tokens through the hole in the bottom of the machine.

When I have one with no bottom, I just cut a piece of cardboard from a corrugated carton. I make it slightly larger than the inside of the bottom of the bin and force fit it. I don't what to permanently seal the bottom of that bin because if I ever lost a key, it would still be possible to reach in through that hole and get to the lock mechanism to open the door from the inside. You just push the cardboard out of the way. If the bin had a solid bottom you couldn't do that.

Since my machines are set to pay out well over 100%, I have yet to have an overflow bin fill up. However, I did test to see what happens. And, just like you'd expect, if the overflow bin fills up to the point for the tokens contact the 2 pins that stick in from the back, the tokens complete a circuit and the machine shuts down and gives you a overflow bin full error.

couldn't you have just grabbed each of those pins yourself and completed the circuit to see what happens?

I tattooed little Iowa Hawkeyes on the cheerleaders today,

5 of them they got the heads close to their playground, I had to mow a little grass to clear room for that tattoo. One girl it was like deforesting the ground, I should have called in a lumber crew.

But someone has to do the hard work 8-)

No work can't feed the machines

Although I'd rather discuss Arby's hard day at work with the cheerleaders... 8-) uh, I do have an overflow bin question!

What are people using for an overflow bin container? Is there a good replacement around? My wife has a Longaberger basket insert that fits perfectly, but that's an expensive option! I'm not talking of cutting cardboard, etc. Am wondering if there is some common plastic item (like Tupperware?) or other container that people might be using?

(BTW, only one of my machines came with an overflow bin bucket.)

Arby, it looks as if an appx. size of about 3" deep by 4" wide by 7" long is about average, although there is some variance between the machines.

(BTW, is the Hawkeye tattoo a tradition for the cheerleaders each year? I'll bet it is pretty common thing to have done! :-P )

The depth isn't really a concern as it could be anywhere from about 7 inches deep to 3 inches deep and perform the job -- it sure can be taller than the 4" mentioned, but the width and length are more critical to slide into the area where it goes.

What I was really asking wasn't for the original type bin (although that would be great), but what some people might have found laying around as a good substitute just to catch the coins. I have 3 machines that need something in there. Sure, I can stick a cardboard shoebox type container in there, but was looking for something that seemed more substantial.

The Cont 4x came with an overflow bin and it is still wired up with prongs to detect the overflow conditon. The rest of the machines are missing the electrical connections and came with no overflow containers.
