I recommend Babel or Rai Rai Goku for a first machine to anyone. Babel is the standard to judge all other machines to in my opinion. Rai Rai Goku is basically Babel part 2. It was made 4 months after Babel and includes all of the features of Babel, plus a few extras. Both extraordinary in the lights and music they have.

It really depends on the person playing.

We have two machines, and while my Wife and I like both, she prefers one and I prefer the other....

I would suggest doing a Google search to see if someone in your area sells them. Try them out, and decide which ones you like.

Then, before you buy, check back here and ask folks their opinions on those specific machines.

That's a wide open question. These machine are all theme based and your enjoyment of it might be heightened if it was a particular theme you enjoyed.

Budget certainly comes into play. How much do you have to invest after you factor in the average $70 to ship it?

I started buying cheap at first myself. I didn't know a thing about these and price was my determining factor. Those first models are either sold or sitting in my garage collecting dust. Since that time, I've gone after the more popular titles that everyone seems to like, or think they will and have been happy with these machines. I like gambling themed machines like Spin Luck (wheel of fortune), Dragon Dice (dice game) and Super Blackjack. I also like my Thunderbirds, for theme reasons as I enjoyed the show as a kid. It's also a mighty fun slot to play. The Neo's offer over-layed graphics that make them a bit unique and there's plenty of others.

So if you could provide us with some basic information about budget and like and dislikes, we might be able to steer you in a particular direction.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am willing to go between $200-$300. My wife and I both like US slots and would probably prefer something similar to those. I am also interested in purchasing a machine with auto-stop and the capability to install a pull-handle. In addition it may be more fun..with the neighbors, if the machine can be converted to quarters. Is it hard to convert? I know I am requesting a lot of info and I appreciate you help.

Just my two cents worth other may vary...

We have a poll on converting them to quarters... I would recommend against this myself.. see the thread.

Auto-stop. Most of these machines base their game play on the stopping of the reels and auto-stop will actually work against you. I would also recommend against this also.

    http://www.pachitalk.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=275

Pull arm - the joy stick on the front of these work great and are more convient. Again I would recommend against this as the cost you'll save would buy more tokens to use.

Basically, you're thinking just as I did when I first got into this. You want an American style machine. I bought an auto-stop for my first machine too. Wish now, someone would have stopped me. The pull arm is cute but most casino's have them on for purely the looks.

    Ditto to everything Tulsa said.

Almost everybody does the same thing when the get into this hobby - try to force a pachislo to play like a Vegas slot. Truth is, playing a Vegas slot is not that much fun when it's all your money going in and coming out.

Pachislos offer much richer play that keeps the machine interesting.

If I were you, I'd start out without autostop, a bandit arm, and I'd use tokens. Give it a month or two. If you don't think we're right, you can always add that stuff later.

My vote for the best machine out there right now for beginners is Don Don King. (Sometimes advertised on eBay as Neon Colors.) Best combination of lights, sounds, play, extra features, and all at a reasonable price.

If you want something that feels as much like Vegas as possible (but still offers VERY interesting play) you should get a Spin Luck - but I don't think you'll find one within your budget.

Here's a link to an auction of the Don Don that Gwarzin spoke of. It's sitting at $53 right now with three days left.

If you tell this vendor your a member of pachitalk he'll double the tokens for free. It's a heck of a deal for our members. :-)

I'm new to Pachislo's also and have been watching the prices on ebay for about a month. They seem to have risen 30-50% over the past week or so  . Is this the Christmas rush, or a long term trend? :?: I don't know what these items so for 2 months ago.

I bid on a Don Don King and watched it sell for $250 plus shipping, whereas the previous ones had typically gone no higher than $190.

If you want something american casino looking then the Tricolor RED/WHITE/BLUE is a nice choice. I think overall play is pretty ordinary, but looks very "Vegas" like and is an IGT machine.

    Red, White, Blue

There are 2 versions out this one is the newer one, easily spotted by the "4th" LED reel on the right hand side.

I would have to go with the Babel or the Don Don as a first machine.
As the the auto stop chip... well I am looking at the one I bought with my first machine sitting here on my desk gathering dust. The interplay that the machine offers (it wanting you to hit certain reels in certain orders) totally makes this chip a waste of money (as I found out). I never put a bandit arm on any of mine.
The best advice is that I can offer is to get the machine without the additions. Try it for a couple weeks and then decide if the auto stop and bandit arm are what you really want.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

Good advice here on the auto-stop, etc. If I'd discovered this forum earlier, I might not have ordered an auto-stop so quickly. (Just ordered one last evening!) Would have waited. Was considering the "arm" for awhile, too, but that's definitely out now.

Anyhow, I'll give a report on my thoughts as a new owner of one of these machines and with the auto-stop after it arrives next week. If I don't like it, guess it will go up for sale on eBay or elsewhere.

Haha! Thanks for the welcome, Tulsa. Enjoying looking around here and enjoying the new machine.

I have always wanted a "slot" for the gameroom and am so pleased to have found the Pachislo machines for reasonable prices. Plus, here in Iowa, the laws forbdids so-called "real" slots. Dumb laws, but that's what we have and Iowa is still a great place to live. :-P Anyhow, lots of fun with my new toy.

Laws prevent us from owning the "real" ones in Oklahoma too. Thank goodness! 8-)

Don Don King. It has a lot and is very flashy and entertaining. Great sound, looks and will keep you busy figuring out what is coming next. Try it, you'll like it
