    Default "Game Center" in Japan

Much like our casinos in the US; a place for the kids, vending, horse race betting, slots, ...

Don't watch, Compirate. You'll have to triple the size of your gagrage.

I have no idea what she was doing on that last one...but I want to play it! It's amazing they get any work done there at all.

I think that's a new fantasy card game, now made interactive with a computer. It is taking off in Japan. I'll see if I can't find any related videos. Talk about Geekiness!

I'd need a couple more garages for all that kind of stuff. I see the 'second life' for pachinko/pachislo. Then off to recycling

I see the horse racing game in the background. Did you notice the bins of cards she has in that last game? I bet she's been playing a while!

I had to edit that first post, that video deserved to be front and center in the forum.
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.

I saw something similar at Gencon a couple weeks back for the PS3. A game were you use cards to pull up characters to battle for you. Kind of the next generation of Yugioh...

Another video of the card gaming system:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYCzBhAdzdU

An excerp from a blog site I found:

    "CARD GAMES
This is the new fad in Japanese gaming centres. The player buys some cards from a shop. Each card has different abilities. They then place the cards on the machine, which reads them and they can use them to play the game.
The wonderful thing about this idea is that the company that makes the game gets your money twice.

In this first example, the cards make up units of an army. You can move them around the table to fight a strategic battle.

Or, how about a game of soccer, where the cards represent the different players on your team?"

I saw a few of these when I went to Japan. There was a big dragon battle themed one by Konami. You bought cards, either a starter deck if you never played before, or you could buy booster packs to build up your desk. Then it was set up with like 6 playing areas each with a monitor, all set around a giant screen showing the battlefield. It looked fun, but the price and lack of being able to read the cards kept me from playing. They had mechanical horse racing games. A bingo game with a giant tube in the middle of all the players (like 10 feet long and 6 feet high). They also had a dungeon like rpg that was played with a weird twist. It had a flat surface, with a monitor straight ahead, and a little slot below the monitor. You would walk around the dungeon and when you would run into monsters, you would slide 100 yen coins into the slot under the monster on screen. This "hit" the monsters. So not only did you spend money to start the game, but you are using money as the weapon as well.

I took a lot of game guides from the arcades there, let me see if I can find them and scan some.
