    Default IGT Rattlesnake

You dont see these too often. No bids but still has 9 days to go. I am curious why you would run an auction for 10 days this time of year? Seems like people have cash in hand and want to buy almost now?

I'll run my top machines for 7 or 10 days and feature it. It gets a lot more views when you feature it and then people will also look at your other stiff. It's like free advertising for your other auctions.

I don't know if that is what he is doing, but it's what I do sometimes.

Who knows... it's Christmas time. I've got one also, but haven't listed it yet. It's s decent looking machine and being made by IGT doesn't hurt, but it seems the buyers lean toward LCD's and bonus features. I'm going to guess $170ish.

I listed it for 10 days because items that end on weekends don't do as well as weekday auctions. At least that's the way it's been for me. If someone here wants it make me an offer and I'll pull it down if we come to a deal. Very cool machine with great music.

I was thinking a four day auction ending Thursday night would be best. Friday and Saturday nights are the worst for ending auctions. Four days is a decent turn around and it doesn't sit for 3 or 4 days with no bids and people just waiting for the end.

That would be true but eBay only has 1,3,5,7,10 as the choices. 3 days is not enough time unless it's a popular model. 5 would have put it ending Friday and 7 Sunday so I went with 10 :-)

I LOVE auctions that end around 6PM on Friday. People in New York are still driving home. People in Chicago are just leaving work. And people in California aren't allowed to bid. I've gotten some of my best bargains on Friday late afternoon or early evening.

I have not sold any thing on ebay. Do I have it right you can't start it on the day you want so it ends when you want it to? Same with the time it ends.

Yes, you can start one at say 6:00 pm and if it's a 7 day auction it will end at 6:00 pm of the 7th day.

You can pay a bit more and specify when you want it to start and end as well.

As a buyer, I kind of like those auctions that end during a weekday... like around 9AM west coast time. Lots of business filter eBay (nothing would get done!), and it's rare to see a snipe come in at those times. Most people are at work. 1PM west coast time is good for buyers too.

As a seller, I'd never try to end at those times, though.

It would be neat to see an analysis of different machines vs. time vs. day of the week done... by someone that... um... likes statistics.

I know that there are eBay approved groups that have software to do that for sellers... the ones that offer auction management, etc. Like Andale, and others. I had a sample of it one time for coins... pretty interesting stuff.

Yes, this time of year I usually start my auctions around 9PM on Sundays.

Football is usually over by then....

Well Tulsa, you can thank me for pushing that Rattlesnake price up a little. I scheduled a 7 second snipe at $153.12 a few days ago. Several hours out I thought that about $120 would be good enough to win. But someone came in a few hours before the end and started to drive the price up. I checked out his history and found that he just started bidding on pachislos and had (in my opinion) overpaid for the one he won earlier. So I had a feeling that I wouldn't win this one. I'm guessing that he had a bid in of around $200.

Too bad. Looked like a fun machine.

IF you had only gone to $156 it would have been yours...

I don't think so. His bid shows that it was placed much earlier. So if I had bid $156 he would probably have got it for $158.50. Looking at the other machine that he won for about $190, I'm guessing that his bid was really up around $200.

I did think about buying it direct from you when you first listed the machine. Would you have taken $150 back then, 'cause that's what I would have offered? I didn't make that offer for 2 reasons, 1) I though you'd probably do better just letting it sell on eBay, and 2) Half the fun of buying a new pachislo is winning the auction. So I thought I'd take my chances. Of course, it's not much fun when you lose the auction. :-(

Gary, that was Toonces auction, and I was just kidding about the $156. That guy surely had it higher than that. You could have bid a bit more and got a higher price though for Toonces..

Oops  I knew it was from somebody out in your neck of the woods. Oklahoma.. Arizona... It's all blends together for those of us on this side of the Mississippi.

So, Toonces... what would YOU have taken for it back when you first listed it?

There's a difference. In Oklahoma we have the benefit of grass, trees and fresh water. :-) In Arizona, they have fossil's, living and dead. :-P
