Cabinet Mod – Smart Card Option Pack for Card Reader Emulator Dongle


Pic 1 This is a piece of uPVC of the type used for Fascia Boards etc. this one has been made from one of the Corner Sections

Pic 2 Marking the position for the fascia plate

Pic 3 Hole in Cabinet has been cut out using a drill bit

Pic 4 Making the Mounting for the Smart Card Option Pack to be fixed to. Note that this was made from different thicknesses of wood to achieve the correct level for the Card Slot

The two thicknesses of wood have been held together using two screws. To achieve the correct height I did slot card in between the layers of wood

Pic 5 Checking the height of the Card Reader when offered up to the fascia slot

Pic 6 The mountings have been painted and two fixing holes to the rear for easy access have been made

Pic 7 Testing the alignment of the Card when fixed. The hole to the Cabinet can be widened if the card catches against the sides of the slot

Pic 8 For fixing of the Fascia I used a Hot Melt Glue Gun, making sure that the Fascia was touching the underneath of the Card to prevent scuffs to the Picture on the Card

Part Two of the Cabinet Mod for the Smart Card Option Pack & Card Reader Emulator Dongle!!

Pic 9 External buttons or switches for set up of the Dongle and also for crediting the Card. These were fitted externally to the Cabinet to save time setting up the Card Reader. Two different coloured buttons were used. Red Button changes Set-Up Mode and the Green Button Credits the Card. All as per Daverob’s easy to understand Instructions

Pic 10 The hole for the two buttons was cut to the underneath of the Cabinet to the rear of the Card Slot, so to remain unobtrusive. The buttons were also glued in place

If I remember correctly, the 70's style Orangey colour is called 'Northern Lights' 2 main walls in that colour and 2 in a pale colour called something like 'Misty Peach'??

and the dining room is the same...
