That Quote has been around here in America for longer than I have and I think you misunderstood it.

No Poke, Joke or Pun was meant to "GOD" Way back when in time and today, when the Plate was passed through the pews 10% of a house holds income was the normally felt amount that should be given to the Church to help maintain it. Prior to money being in around 10% could have been anything that a family had to share.

Crops, yarn, candles, cows, pis and even sheep.
