    Default Pachinko Car Alarm

    Hello !

So my new Pachinko makes a sound like a "car alarm" every time it is powered on. Do you guys/gals have any machines that do that. It really does sound like a car siren, and goes on for a looooong time like 30 seconds. I am surprised the cops haven't knocked on the door yet!

Is this just part of the startup diagnostics, or is the Pcchinko theft system been activated

    Thanks for reading.

That's the Pachi-Lo-Jack, it's in all the newer machines

    Sorry I couldn't resist.

Try turning it off and then right back on again.

Machines will start yelling at you on power up if the volatile memory got wiped out. A capacitor somewhere drained and the system is basically reset. Do you unplug your machines or just power them off? Usually it's ok for a day or two, though. I only see this after a week or so of being unplugged.

This might be what you're hearing. Either that or it's the Lo-Jack.

    LOL

I keep them plugged in so the capacitor isn't getting drained, but I have seen exactly what you are describing if I leave one of them off and unplugged for too long.

I have one that makes that noise on startup if it has run out of balls, but still has a payout to fulfill. I also have one that does it during a reset when it is first turned on. Does it have a reset button?

Yes it does I have reset it and that cleared the the display so it doesn't say "full" anymore, but the piercing noise still comes on right after a test pattern on the LCD, and the mechanical animation test.

    Thanks

Is the key capable of doing a soft set? (kinda like a pachislo)

All of my new Kyoraku machines go through the same process on power up. It is shrill. It is loud. It is annoying and it is normal.

I have not found anyway to avoid this short of leaving the unit powered up.

Sorry, no rest for you. You must get back to playing while the machine is still new. It's all part of the Arby experience.
