    Default Smartcard Enclosure

I've just hooked up Daverob's smartcard option to two of my machines and they both work great. Thank, Daverob!

Now, I'm thinking of installing them on the sides of my cabinets but would like to get some type of enclosure for them. Has anyone given this any thought? I'm interested in seeing if anyone has come up with something that would cover it so it looks a bit better that just a circuit board with a bit of plastic on it

    Thanks,
    Steve

Pull the guts out of an old Floppy drive...the little door would keep dust away from the reader.

im already working on that one on my machine cabinets there was a space at teh bottom where a ball tray would sit to catch lost balls but now i run a parlour system the lost balls are fed via pipes back to the ball lifter so the space has been blanked off there for im going to gut a slot in the face and then just burn around it slightly to make it look resessed with a 4" angle grinder and mount teh card reader on a L bracket on th eother side so you put your card through the slot in teh wood and hey presto its hooked in and will look like a true slot in a machine

The way I'm planning to use them is to cut two hollows in the sides of adjacent cabinets, so that when the cabinets are fixed together there is a small gap between them where the smartcard reader board can be fitted.

I'll then cover the front of the cabinet sides with some 1 1/2" wide white acryllic, with a neat slot cut in it for the cards to be inserted. I can then decorate it with some decals and LEDs, so that it looks more like an authentic parlour card unit.

I've just cleared away the area that my new cabinets are going to be mounted, and I'm just working out my final cut list, ready for a trip to the local timber merchant today. So with a bit of luck this plan should turn into a photo journal of the construction process in the next few days!

I am interested in seeing the different ways these can be incorporated into a Cabinet...

I have held off ordering so far (not easy!!) - mainly because I am undecided on which machine I will treat first
and therefore choosing the right artwork is not a simple task...

Hope there are still some left!!

I like the floppy idea... I am thinking about making a plexi box, maybe with the floppy front.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.
