Default Spin Luck Wheel Assembly - Extra Lights?

On the back of the Spin Luck wheel assembly, there's five extra light holes covered with white stickers that have a single Japanese character on it. Does anyone know if these are functional? Obviously, they wouldn't be covered if they were, but I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to put a light bulb in one and see if it comes on during a spin.

You would only use those light holes if you want the 7777 to appear.

Sorry, I really don't know about the spin luck, but my gamera pachinko has a few of the same holes covered with a sticker and something written in japanese.

Since I can't use the Internet to translate the Japanese, I don't want to take the chance of it saying something like:

Risk of serious injury or DEATH if removed
Do NOT use, will disable 7777 permanently
    Removal voids warranty
Silly American will think hole does something if we put a sticker over it

We talked of this at the dead horse saloon years gone by. We thought that it was done to keep the wheel from getting to hot from the lights and warping.
Back than we were all as babies in the woods, so there quite possible is a correct answer, but till than, the above works for me.

Well, I just tried it by moving a bulb to one of the empty holes and it does work. When you begin a Spin Luck and the beep beep beep starts, the light lights up, but when you press the Spin Luck button, only the outer lights stay on and do their 'rotation' thing. Looks much better with two lights on a number. It didn't complain, catch fire or scream something vile at me in Japanese.

So, what kind of bulbs are these anyway? I don't see any markings on them.

Not arguing with arby, but since these lights are rarely on anyway, I don't see any danger of warping, much less a fire hazard. I wish I could translate that single Japanese character. I assume it's Kanji. Fool that I am, I'm looking at a site that lists Kanji and their meanings. I could be here a while...

    Yes, gimme a few minutes...

While you're waiting, here's the page from that site that Eddie found that makes the Flexi-Disc:

    Flexi-Disc

Notice that they state "Illumination of up to 7 individual symbols using 12 independent lamps...".

The wheel happens to have 12 lamps. Well, 7 and 5 empty holes with stickers.

Let me go snap a pic.

    Here are my thoughts.

    (1) IGT Japan did not want to put light bulbs in those holes because it wouldn't look beautiful if all 12 bulbs started blinking. Probably it would be too bright if it happened.
    (2) IGT Japan did not program the computer (the motherboard) perfectly so that those five bulbs would light up synchronizing the wheel. Then, rather than making a new board, they wanted to use the original part (remember, the wheel part was manufactured by different company) and put the stickers to save money.

I think (2) is more likely the reason because IGT Japan did the same thing to other parts of machines. For example, on both sides of reel window (behind the door) there are 10 holes (5 on each side). But sometimes you see the same round stickers cover the holes, instead of light bulbs (e.g., Austin Powers has two stickers). IGT put the stickers because there is nothing to shine from the back. In other words, there is no indicator on the front side, such as a bet counter. Why did IGT do it? Because they wanted to save money by using the same parts to all the machines.

To get back to the first point, I guess IGT was too lazy to make a new board behind the wheel...

    Well, I might be wrong...

    Best,
    Gaku

*shuffles feet* So, do you sell these bulbs? I think it looks perfectly fine to me. Are these No.6/T-5/V-2S/24V?

EDIT: and I take it you don't know Japanese. I thought someone was going to rescue me from my Kanji studies. It's giving me a headache.

If I were to venture a guess, I'd say that Gaku DOES know Japanese.

Is it the same board on the Harley? If yes, does it have the same stickers or are the bulbs used?

Although i have never paid too much attention to the capped up holes,

I have a mess of bulbs that came with the Spinluck i bought.. so i think i will Fill them all up when i get home and give it a try and see what the outcome is...

worse comes to worse look for a slightly damaged spinluck in the PT auction

    Woohoo! A Guinea pig!

Make sure you see what it does in the attract mode too as well as on a spin.
