    Default Lumina frame cyclic mod

Well I decided to convert my first lumina frame to cyclic this weekend and I must say - It is much more fun to play but there was a drawback. I was able to remove the top section of plastic easily enough - the bottom required removing the lower tray feed chute (3 screws) and then cutting around the screw that holds the 2-part chute together. This made gameplay a bit more fun, but I had to keep an eye on the bottom tray as during fever rounds the balls would back up into the playing field. I decided instead of inserting plastic to block ball travel to the rear passage I would insert a chunk of packing foam about 2"x4" folded - this resulted in less noise as the balls drop down. All in all (for me at least) a great mod thanks to all the good info here.

After converting one of my Lumina machines to cyclic, I'll probably switch it back one of these days. I like it fine. But when other people play it they always end up clogging up the new path and filling balls into the playfield.

I'm guessing you mean semi cyclic, where the balls come out the bottom tray. In that case, your using too many balls. Don't let the bottom tray fill up that much. My Star Wars and Julie both have that mod and it works great with just enough balls to fill the bottom tray. I would love to make it fully cyclic but looks like a lot of work.

Yeah, I meant semi-cyclic. My problem is, I like having the ball payout, so I don't go full cyclic. One way around it is to leave the bottom tray drain hole open and let them fill a separate tray. But then at that point, it's no different than any of my parlor ready machines in cabinets that bring balls to the front.

Really, I just need a ball lifter when I can scrape up the funds.

I play without the hoppers so I never had that problem.
