the other day i was in a electronics chain and they had 10 - 15 of them on the rack... not empty boxes..

It has been pretty scarce over here in the UK also, it is only now that it is becoming more readily avialable (within the last week or so).

I have just managed to get one after looking since Christmas in the UK.

Was in a store waiting to pay (Woolworths - a large UK chain!) As I was waiting the guy in front of me was buying a Wii. The lady serving him said "Your lucky! Only one left after this!". That was it... Credit card out and I bought the last one. Left the store to meet my wife who was waiting outside... She saw what I had got and said, "Thats the largest and most expensive bottle of Pepsi I have ever known!!!"

I only went in for the drink!!!

What can i say though - superb console - retails here at £179 which seems a little more expensive than in the States. Must agree that "Zelda" is a great Wii game - followed by Monkey Ball...

(p.s. Then spent a further £150 on software in a store further down the road afterwards!)

I was lucky enough to get one early on. Nintendo is still having problems keeping up with the demand, and they are outselling the PS3 5 to 1.

01 if you like Warioware, get Rayman... that is also a fun minigame/party game. How is Mario Party? I skipped on it because it wasn't getting the best reviews with most people saying it just uses a lot of the old minigames. Plus I am still busy with Zelda and Paper Mario. But I can't wait for Super Smash Bros Dojo, that one is looking to be awesome.

Does it take long to get used to the controllers?

The couple of my friends that have the system claim they instantly grasped how to use them and were comfortable to the point that they feel like the controllers are an extension of themselves.
The little bit I tried them...lets just say I wasn't intially impressed.

Not really. Its just like getting used to the controls on any new game, just with less buttons and more movements. Some games barely use the movements (like Paper Mario) and a game like Wario Ware, has you learning 15 or so different ways to hold the controller... and you have to switch like crazy between every mini game. But like with any game, it becomes second nature and you just play and don't have to worry about the controls. (Just don't become too relaxed, or you might lose the TV to a flying Wiimote)

The controllers do just become second nature after a short while.
And there's some training exercises included on the Wii Sports disc.

We've had people from ages 6 to 79 play here, and they all caught on quickly. (Well... the 6 year old much faster than the 79 year old. )

Hmmmm... guess a Wii thread is as good of a reason to change my avatar as any. The other one was starting to get stale.

We picked up Mario Party 8. I was a bit disappointed. A fair number of games have you treat the controller like an old NES one with no movement at all... We are BIG fans of the Mario Party line but this one left us a little flat. I guess after 8 versions there is only so much you can do. And yes Super Smash is looking pretty good.

And Logic Probe, your Mii looks strangely similar to mine. Maybe we were separated at birth?

I got my Wii yesteday!!! Kansas City didnt have any...and its June,crazy. So i drove to Ottawa Kansas with my girlfriend, thats the best way to get a wii...go the the small towns and call a Wlmart.. The Ottawa Walmart always has things you cant find in stock. So the 1 hour 40 minute drive o then back was worth paying $249..ebay is still $350-450.

But anyway I want to add you pachi friends to my wii friend list..dont know what that entails (play wii games together..I dont know) but its in the messsage menu. Logic and 01py ect. send me your wii numbers(your wii number is found in messages) 6219-4397-4678-0696 is mine that way we are on our friend lists. you have to both list each number for it to work.

Rumor has it there will be games 'in the future' that can be played with friends. (There might be some now... but none that I'm aware of).

For now, the friend code is for exchanging messages, I believe.
And you can also send email, although there is some sort of activation reply needed from the email account. I tried it when I first got it, but never used it since.

I heard you can play others in Wii Sports...there is alot to the wii...that isnt mentinoed in the booklet...like saving wii characters to your controller and taking it to another wii and "beam it on there" thats how I got my Mii from a friend.
plus logic I can send you pictures of pachinko's on wii...yes so can normal email but I find it fun Lol
