I have always used pay pal with them. It works fine. Tell Eric you're from pachitalk... He'll get a kick out of it.

You got the Cadillac of slots for a fair price. One thing you are probably going to need, depending on where you have the machine, is volume control Dragon Dice is a pretty loud one and the seller you got it from does not add volume controls to their machines. If the machine is out of the way, you might be ok, but if it is near other people watching TV or doing other things, you will definitely need it. Have fun with it, it's great!

Give it a listen. I find the low volume setting just right for me. But then I tend to have the machines just a little louder than most people because I have a room dedicated to pachislos.

The private owner that I bought the machine from didn't know there was a 3 position volume switch. It was set on high and it was so loud that he finally disconnected the speaker wires. When I got the machine I thought I'd been taken. The sound didn't work. My first thought was a blown amplifier. But it only took a couple of minutes to find the real problem.

I installed volume controls on mine too, IGT machines are quite loud usually. It was waay to loud for me on the lowest setting. You got a great machine!

Heh, I bought Pachinko_Pallace's "last one in stock" DD on the 23rd. Funny thing is, there've been 3 more for sale since then and they've ALL been the last one. Why do ya do dem tings ya do, Eric?

I had been watching the DD auctions and $250 seemed to be the magic number. That's what I paid for this one.

It's on the FedEx truck right now, out there somewhere in the Florida wilderness. When I get home it'll be sitting there, just waiting for me to crack open its beautiful mother-of-cardboard box and lovingly place it on the mudroom cabinet that's been reserved for it. Gonna be a noisy night at my house, gentlemen.

:x Oh, California! And Nevada. And Oregon too.

Planned my evening around the DD getting delivered today. Checked tracking at 11:45. Aaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh!!! The dreaded "Delivery Exception" occurred at 11:08. They couldn't leave it because I wasn't home to sign for it. Dagnabbit, what kinda California-ing California is that?

Grandview insured the thing for about 10x more than I paid for it, so FedEx thinks they're handling 90 lbs. of cultured pearls. Unbelievable.

I'm skulking away now, pouting. End of transmission. *Click*

You can probably go to the Fed-Ex center and pick it up yourself if you like.

So yet another hidden eBay profit opportunity. First you charge more than it costs to ship it. Then you insure it for big bucks. Then if it gets damaged, you make more money than you did by selling it.

So I suppose since Milt is charging .95 more than Grandview to ship it, they're over-charging people too?

Pardon the pun, but "no dice" on picking the thing up. It's on a subcontractor's truck, and it wasn't going back to the terminal to be unloaded. I can sign the door tag and absolve them of all responsibility for leaving it at the front door, or I can get a 24-hour bug *ahem* and sit here and wait for it tomorrow.

I guess I have to sign the door tag. More worry, but less guilt.

Patience may be a virtue, but I wouldn't know because I don't have any!! Cripes, I'm already behind about 3 hours of playtime. Oh well, being impatient isn't helping, so I'll just keep cruisin' the forums.

Ever tried squeezing blood out of a turnip? That's what it's like when you file a damage claim with any of the big carriers. FedEx will want to see sales receipts, which will clearly show that Grandview sold it for $250. Then FedEx will find that the packaging was inadequate and apply some magic "fudge factor" to the amount of the claim, reducing it to probably less than $100. Well, maybe not. Their packaging is actually pretty good.

It does no good to insure somethng for more than it's worth. Grandview could save money on FedEx charges by not screwing around with declared value.

Not trying to be argumentative here, just relating my experience.

The way I look at shipping charges is this: If the same pachislo is on eBay and being sold by any or all of the usual suspects (pachislo_pallace, pachislot777, and demos777), I figure out what I want my max bid would be, ignoring the shipping.

Then, even though pachislot777 charges $59 for shipping and pachislo_pallace charges $69, I set my bids at exactly the same amount. I just figure that the laminated cabinet is worth the extra 10 bucks.

Then, for demos777, I add an extra $15 bucks to my bid, because he gives PC members a discount on the shipping. (Guess I'm still a PC member for another 2 months.)

Then I hope that I win the one from demo777 because everyone says his machines are in the best condition and he gives the best support.

Second choice is pachislo_pallace. Not because of the laminated cab, but because it's only 2 day shipping time instead of 5.

Third choice is pachislot777, 'cause of the longer shipping time.

But, in real life, it always seems to work out in the reverse order. I win more often from pachislot777, sometimes from pachislo_pallace, and I have yet to win one from demos777. Go figure. Guess it happens because pachislot777 has more auctions and a lot of them tend to be shorter, so I win their's first and cancel the rest.

BTW, I can't remember the last time I bid on a SlotUSA or Valley Gaming auction. It would have to be a very rare machine going at a very low price to tempt me to do that.

    ---- ---- :? ----

So I get a call this morning, it's FedEx. "Hey, uh, we got this package here for ya. It's big." I told them to hang on to it and I'd be there to pick it up ASAP. Don't want any more Delivery Exceptions.

Later today after a grueling 40-mile round trip that took 2 hours, the machine is unpacked and set up. Uh oh. All is not well. One of the dice got jarred loose and wouldn't spin at all, the other was just a little cross-eyed. Started poking around, found the problem, and fixed it. That should be enough to keep me happy with myself for almost an entire week.

Everyone who sang the praises of this machine is absolutely right. The sound and lights are way better than P-P's auction video would have you believe.

So, Big Winner, you have a great machine coming your way. It's gonna knock your sox off. Enjoy.
