Shawn of the dead was pretty good, but I'm not really into zombie movies

Pan's Labyrinth is an excellent movie

Shaun of the Dead is more about the Humour than the Zombies! !

It's a must see film and part of the Ang Collection along with Bride of Chucky, and the Evil Dead Films they all absolutely too!

yep.. Shaun of the Dead was very good. Too good, in fact. It gave me unrealistic expectations for Hot Fuzz, which was good, but not as good as Shaun.

Shaun of the Dead was awesome, actually went and saw Hot Fuzz on the opening night... it was slow at some parts but still a great movie for a laugh or fifty. The whole entire Evil Dead series rocks... I don't know how many versions of each movie I have. I think I have three editions of Army of Darkness. I enjoy Bride of Chucky as it shifted from Horror to almost dark comedy. The funny thing was... I used to be scared to death of the Child's Play ads when I was younger... now I own them all. As for 28 Days later... I bought the DVD shortly before 28 weeks came out, but have yet to watch it. I am behind on my movies.... lol

I cringe when I think just how many versions of some films I have bought.....

I paid an 'arm and a leg' to specially import Numbered Limited Editions of the Evil Dead Films - some in Tins and with the replica theatrical posters and stuff......

Bruce Campbell is absolutely fantastic in them.....just the right hint of madness! ! I'm not too sure but he could be like that in real life

and Jennifer Tilly is wonderfully cast in 'Bride of Chucky' ! !

28 weeks later was just not what I had expected. It was a descent flick but it didn't make me jump out of my seat like I had hoped for.

I would give it a fair 7 our of 10.

Yeah.. 7 or 8 for me. It was a sequel.. so you get a 20-30% reduction in quality off the original.

I did like the hint of moral dilemma concerning the military shooting/otherwise killing people because they were or were almost certain to become infected. If they are unhurt and uninfected, and running away, but have no chance to escape and will almost certainly become infected and very dangerous soon, is it right to kill them to slow the spread of the infection if you can't help them. Is it perhaps merciful as well?

I don't recall that kind of moral quandary from Dawn of the Dead (which I also enjoyed watching).

For me, unbelievable or predictable doesn't make for a bad movie. Most of these films are the same. They usually end with a single survivor, a "hope for mankind," and then a teaser to guarantee a sequel. If you think about it, the Bond films are all essentially the same, yet they are still popular. You make up for the predictability with non-stop action, some twists in the storyline, and some good special effects and acting.

Same with believability. There are many films (virtually all sci-fi) that aren't believable. Do you watch the Indiana Jones films because they are believable? No, just great acting, effects, and a non-stop roller coaster ride of a story.

I think the only films I can't tolerate are the ones that make no sense at all. For instance, most of the David Lynch films. Unlike The Cube, where there is some logic to what is happening, despite a million unanswered questions, some of the Lynch films I have seen are purely bizarre and without logic. One of his first films called Eraserhead is just nuts. I can't understand how a sober person could sit through such a film.

Several years ago I saw another of his films called Mulholland Drive. Despite it being well-filmed and intersting at first, it has so many twists and turns you wonder what the hell you are watching. It's labeled as surreal or "mindbending" but films like this just bug the crap out of me.

I always tell my kids that the 'unbelievable" ones are the ones to watch and not be afraid of. It can't happen...but the movies with sicko psychotic killers...GEEZ! They are SCARY since there is a sense of 'this could happen'.. Either way...I try not to watch any!!!

I watch movies to be entertained. I like thrillers and suspense but horror is just that, horrorble (poetic license on the spelling) . I don't want to be grossed out when I watch a movie.
