I read that story yesterday, the judge is a jerk and should be disbarred.

The poor store owner will lose a bundle fighting this lawsuit.

its a waste of the taxpayers money, lawsuits like this shouldn't be allowed!

all i can say is Un friggenbelievable...

he should be sued for wasting tax payers money and filing frivolous lawsuits...

just makes a joke of the entire court system...

They offered him $4800 to go away and he turned it down. I think he paid $300 for the pants and they even found them but he wouldn't except them.

Come to think of it, based on the large amount he is sueing for and a past history with this asian couple, maybe the judge should be brought up on hate crime charges, let's put the legal system to work, clearly he "hates" these people and has spent a large amount of time thinking of stupid ways to really really hurt these people.....yep, hate crime charges

I agree that the suit should be tossed out, and the judge disbarred. I also think the couple should counter sue for mental anguish. I'm not a big fan of "mental anguish" in general, but I can't imagine the suffering that would go along with being sued by a judge for $65M for losing a pair of pants. They must be worried on a daily basis that they are going to lose their business and have their lives irreparably damaged (as if that hasn't happened already). I could believe that is the kind of stress that leads to health problems, divorce, and all sorts of other ills.

The rich and powerful should not be able to do as they please!

The judge should be ordered to pay all their legal bills and $1200 a day for 1200 days x 3 for pain, anguish and suffering. Then he should have to pay for a limo service for the next 10 years to chauffeur the Chungs to and from their work and home.

What do folks in the UK think of this sort of thing? My understanding (which my not be right) is that in the UK if you sue someone and lose, you have to pay their legal fees. On the one hand, that slows down the insanely frivolous suits, but on the other, it would make it very hard to take on people or companies with deep pockets.

The Company I worked for sued the city for violating their civil rights by passing a law setting our hours of business and forcing us to close at night.

The mayor had a vendeta against us, we were the only store opened 24 hours a day in the small town by the beach.

It went to federal count in Tampa, the judge ruled in our favor and the city had to pay our $24,000.00 in legal fees, plus their own

they never did tell the taxpayers that the money come from them!

Its obvious that the Judge is insane. There is no other way to put it.
Now can you imagine this nut Judging cases involving other peoples lives?
Its a scary thing and for the legal system IE Other Judges,lawyers and the Legal Board to have to think about what to do for even an instant tells you how bad our legal system has become for all but the Rich and those working in that system.
This shows that things have gone completely out of control and untill it effects you on a personal level we dont even think about it.
Just remember GUNS and Alcohol are OK but the Dangerous, Insidious, Terrifying, Destructive, Murderous, Sinister, Violent, Harmful and Civilization Threatening Pachislos and Minimotos are Banned!
Its all twisted and upside down and with these nuts running things you wonder why?

Unbelievable, I could never have though that something like this would happen,
did anyone read the posts in the comments lower down the page,
Where some guy agreed with the judge and quoted all sorts of legal crap someone posted a reply as follows
" Iwould like to see things from your perspective, However I cant get my Head that far up my Butt!"
