    Default First Shiner!

My boy got his first shiner last night. He tripped while running and caught the corner of his eye on the trim around the window sill. Today it is closed shut. I felt bad for him today, so I went out and bought him some Thomas the train toys. He seems to feel better now. We call him Mini Rocky! My wife was so hesterical last night she kept on asking what to do, I said we are going to have to cut you Rock! That did not go over easy with her!

    Oh bless - poor fella....

I am sure the Thomas toys will help though. They soon bounce back though.

Its the worse thing ever it seems when your children get hurt. I feel really bad now his eye is totally shut. For any kind of booboos (His words) he has to have an Elmo band aid!

OUCH! Parents always suffer when our children get hurt. Kids are SO resilient though...he'll be fine in NO time! My daughter used to love getting stitches...just to get the lollipops!

I'm amazed by what kids can recover from. I bet his eye will be okay soon enough.

A few years ago my daughter fell down on the pavement at school and somehow managed to not put her hands out at all. She landed more or less on her cheek, and scraped off the top several layers of skin from above her eye down to her chin. This was three days before she started at a new school, too, so on her first day there literally more than one third of her face was an oozing scab.

I was so worried she was going to have some sort of nasty scar. It took a few months, but eventually 99.9% of it healed up. She has a tiny, tiny scar in the crease between her nostril and cheek, which you can't see unless you go looking for it. Other than that, she's now perfectly fine and adorably cute (a trait she gets from my wife).

That sounded like a bad fall, and what timing right when she starts school. My sons eye is almost open now, and looking allot better. Now if this happened to me it would take forever to heal!

Sorry to hear of your son's eye injury devospeed. Glad it will heal up OK.

Now if your like me you don't tell your parents that you injured your eye. Instead they find out in the middle of the night when you wake up crying and your sister asked what happened that your eye hurts. Then you say that when you were down at the river you walked behind your cousin when he was casting. It hurt a little bit but I just pulled the fish hook out and just kept fishing the rest of the day. Were kids. No problem! Now the week in the hospital for the resulting infection was a problem!

One of the reasons I needed to wear glasses. Thank you so very much for Lasik eye surgery! The doctor said there will always be a small peace of something in the eye. As a kid it was something to see my parents alternate between freaking out and yelling at me for not coming to them right after it happened.

Ugh.. fish hook to the eye is a little more than I can bear to think about. One too many Hellraiser movies and my imagination is a bit too vivid.

I saw someone that that happened to at the 12th street beach in Chicago. That must of been about 45 years ago. I guess it happens a lot.
