Default Odd electrical tidbit of Coin op Pachinko

On this machine the power cord is connected directly to a bus bar with numeous wires leading to the 15 wire plug which connects to the PC board.

Then the power is sent to the Transformer along the PC board tracings!!!!!!!!!!! Thats why the Transformer in and out wires are soldered to the board!!!!!!!!

The Red wires at the bottom of the plug are the positive power wires!

So in other words there are alot of very hot, high voltage wires along the machine and on the board BEFORE they get to the Transformer! How weird is that?

Any one have opinions as too why it would be designed like that?

from what i can see from the pictures this is typical 1970 ish design the low voltage conversion is done on the board and the wiring is thru the "plug" connection to the buss bar . on older designed boards this is quite common before they got smart and started making seperate boards for power and logic .the board was designed to be replaced easily thus the board connector .just be sure to unplug the device before doing any service to the board and you'll be fine .
